Barrie Colts 2024 - 25 Season Thread, Part I

No they weren’t but the OHL guru seems to think that a team can compete for an OHL title playing 9 forwards and 4 D. Jimmy should quit his day job and and go all in on hockey he seems to have all the answers.
The team is on a nice run and they are getting solid minutes up and down the lineup which is what they will need if they are going to have any chance to compete for a title. Different kids every night chipping in.

There is not a team that I’ve seen this season that even comes close to ‘rolling four lines’ regularly. The colts will play 11 more than any other team it seems.
It is good to keep everyone involved and nice to have different players chipping in each game with 8-10 getting the bulk of the TOI.
In game it seems L3 ends up Lowe-Newton-Hemming often enough that they should just start that way.

There were players that had TOI scaled back for the colts last night. Stewart and Gardiner did not seem part of normal rotation in the 3rd. I don’t think I saw Martin at all in the final 10-12 minutes.

Thx Captain Obvious - Marty has no issues shortening lines as he should -it doesn’t mean it will always be the same 9 and 4. Part of coaching is Id’ing whose going and whose not. Game by game or period by period. Maybe he saw something with the guys he had out there.
Making a blanket statement about the 4th line and 5/6 d being out there is ridiculous given the talent on the line and pairing.
Passmore is going to be an NHL pick and Lowe has as many snipes as Hemming and Gardiner. 9-10 more than Stewart.
In case you missed it Lowe (4th liner) was out there and Jels (whose one of the best)wasn’t when they tied it with the net empty. BTW he also scored the 1st.
I guess the coaches maybe do know a little bit which will be tough for guys like you to acknowledge.
If you want to look at the plus minuses of the kids involved we can go there too.
Since the new 4th line and 5-6 pairing they are 4-0. Playing a hell of a lot better than the previous 4 games.
Of course vast majority of games their top 9-top 4 will be out there as they should.
Let the coaches coach or send them your resume I’m sure the ‘Cheap’ owner will love to save money he spends on Marty and you can show us all how it’s done.

Howie, Marty and the rest have assembled a hell of a good hockey team, top to bottom. They still have picks and lots coming back.
I prefer to keep it positive. I don’t have time for people who want to rip kids especially kids this good. Saying specific kids shouldn’t be out there is classless.
They read this stuff.
I can’t wait to watch it play out -I prefer talking about how good they are, how good this division is, the other teams, the trade chatter etc..
My wish is for armchair GMs and coaches on here stay classy and avoid ripping specific players and the staff every time there is a bump - I promise you there will be more.
I think this team is extremely well built from top to bottom, and every single one of them will play an important role at some point this year.
Every single one of them is way better than anyone commenting on here I promise you that.
I can’t wait to watch these kids battle down the stretch.

We’re allowed to post are opinions on the team that’s the point of this. I guarantee u the players don’t look at this shit they would think there far better than to look at posts random fans make on here.

You’d think marty had a better resume than dale hunter the way u speak of him lol I played for marty he is a great coach and loves his players but that doesn’t mean he is some hockey genius that’s won at every level of hockey. The truth is he hasn’t won shit in this league and I hope that comes to a end this year.

Hrebik gets the start tn colts going 11 and 7 and playing recently signed Armstrong as the 7th D tn. Assuming Eliasson isn’t 100% so they go 7 D in case he can’t go all game.

Big win last night one of the best games this team has played from start to finish all year. I liked the 11 F look tonight getting more off a flow into the game for some players and making it extremely difficult to line match against. That colts team that showed up last night will be a tough out for anyone in this league come playoff time.

Emil has really stepped up his game since the line changes. 4 G and 2 A and +7 in his last 5 games.

Great team effort last night. Colts came out from the drop of the puck with their puck pursuit and speed. Really like how everyone is contributing in some manner. Feel sorry for Armstrong making a rookie mistake leading to the goal; however, this is when/ where he learns the game. Hrebik with another strong start. Funny how you can go from a losing streak of 5 to a winning of 5.

I have full confidence in whoever is bw pipes. Line combos are great and D pairings are rock solid with nice depth. I think the Armstrong kid will be more than fine. Get his feet wet this year, be part of a hopefully deep playoff run and be ready to have a strong camp. Bw Handsor, Vader, Armstrong and NB at U18 there will be 4 kids pushing each other for spots and playing time. Plus potentially add Emmerton to mix and future is bright. Felt awful for Armstrong on turnover but welcome to the O moment out of the way.

Barrie is currently on top of the Eastern conference with 1 player in the top 50 proving that it is a total team effort to get where they are. Dylan Wakely at 50 ! the remaining top contenders in both conferences have multiple players in the top 50.

Big 3 in 3 this weekend. Would be nice to win tonight and get 1/2 vs Niagara and Oshawa gonna be a real challenge tho as they’ll be playing Oshawa Friday who isn’t playing tonight and Niagara Saturday who isn’t playing till Saturday either. Tough schedule
