Barracuda News & Discussion VII

Excited to see both Cherny and Musty make their pro debut soon. Really fun times. I guess I'll be watching Cuda playoffs this year!
Ditto, though I havent seen anything official about Cherny. I would have thought we'd have heard confirmation of him going to the cuda already.

He eliminated on april 5, so no word 3 days later? I woulda liked to go a game this weekend and see both of 'em in person.

Sheng mentioned there's talk of it, so hopefully we'll know soon enough.

Alright, here's the deal on this game:

We need to get to 4th if we're going to have home ice in the first round. 1st and 2nd are mathematically out of reach and Ontario just needs one point to put 3rd out of reach too. 4th place is these Coachella Valley Firebirds we're facing, who are four points up on us. After this game, both of us will have four games remaining in our schedule. So winning/losing this game is the difference between being two points behind them (we'd still be in it) and six points behind them (pretty much impossible).

I don't know how they determine who hosts which playoff games, but it isn't consistent. Some of the best of 3 series in the first round last year were all held at the same venue. And yeah, I kinda want to go to a playoff game:

The game is on Coachella Valley's local TV affiliate and this is the first time I'm noticing that Grant Fuhr is their color analyst. What a random place for him to be.

Axel Landen gets bumped out of the lineup with Schuldt's return. Am surprised Noah Beck hasn't gotten back into the lineup, especially with how Furlong has been playing lately. Donavan Houle comes out of the lineup with Graf returning.

As far as Coachella Valley goes, no Rehkopf, but Villeneuve is in:

Ton of good chances for the Barracuda on an early power play, Firebirds goalie Kokko standing on his head already. He must've made six saves on that PP.

Even strength, Firebirds are getting most of the zone time.

John Gormley's got to stop overcommitting for the sake of trying to throw big hits. Resulted in the puck getting by him again and Bystedt takes a hooking penalty trying to prevent a goal.

0-0 after one. High intensity first period, though. Fast paced game.

This game is totally breaking down. These guys are a real possibility to be our first round opponent. Barracuda about to go on their fifth power play after an elbow to the head on Regenda by McKinnon. Cuda power play seems like it's getting worse as the game is going.

---

Still scoreless after two periods. Kinda get the feeling this one's going to get decided by a bad bounce or something. Can't remember the last time a Barracuda game has had this sort of intensity.
