Barracuda News & Discussion VII



I kinda love the fact that the Condors' highlight video shows all the ridiculousness going on in the first period. It'd be great if we hang on to Anthony Vincent for next year, our opponents constantly becoming unhinged when he's on the ice is just amazing.

But yep, two wins this weekend and the Barracuda move up into fifth, passing Calgary for the time being. Eleven points up on 8th, four points out of 2nd, and just one point out of 3rd.

100% agree on Vincent. He is without a doubt my favorite "non-prospect" player on the Cuda this season. I don't think I have seen a pest so good at getting under the other team's skin since Tikkanen or Verbeek. Seems like other teams literally try to kill him at least once a game. I don't think he has an NHL future but he is great for the Cuda

Gushchin's been on a tear. If you go back further his numbers are even more impressive: 12 points (5G 7A) in his last 5 games.

In fact, several of the forwards for the Barracuda deserve some recognition for their last five games, specifically:
Poturalski: 10 pts (6G 4A)
Duehr: 8 pts (5G 3A)
Regenda: 6 pts (2G 4A)
Bordeleau: 6 pts (6A)
White: 5 pts (2G 3A)
Cardwell: 5 pts (1G 4A)- All in his last three games

Being at the game Cardwell stood out as looking faster and at a higher level than everyone else. He was very noticeable.

Sabourin's shot is blocked, but bounced right to Vanroboys, who makes it 1-0.

Vanroboys now has double digits in goals, that's his 10th. Didn't see that coming, as he put up all of eight points at UMass last year before joining us.

Cameraperson is having a lot of trouble tracking the puck.

Gulls tie it after some prolonged pressure.

Cuda were all out of sorts after Carpenter took it away from Keane at the start of this clip:



End of the first, we started well but Gulls outworked us in the second half of that period.

Barracuda take a too many men penalty, Gulls score right at the end of it. 3-2 San Diego.

Genuinely just don't understand why this team plays so well against us. That is your score after two, team is playing fine, but Gulls still found a way to get it into the net twice that period.

I've been fine with Keane being the #7 on this team, but now that he's an everyday guy due to the Sharks' injury situation, I'd like to go back to seeing less of him. Furlong-Keane has been pretty rough to watch at times. Problem is, Bucheler didn't really look great either in the only game he played in and we have no other options. Let's bring in some tryouts.

On a more positive note: Braden Hache has really turned himself around and become one of our more dependable options. I'd be fine with this team (by that I mean the Cuda) keeping any/all of Schuldt, Hache, Frisch for next season. I don't think we have defense prospects coming in to the AHL anyway for 25-26.

Oh, this weekend is going to be fun. Lot of seeding implications among the top five.

Barracuda are now tied on points with Abbotsford and Coachella Valley for third, and Friday/Saturday we've got the Canucks coming to town. Coachella Valley is at Chicago for two games, in the meantime.

Plus, we're three points behind second place Ontario, who face the first place Colorado Eagles Saturday/Sunday.

Not going to be easy. Abbotsford has won seven straight.
