Barracuda News & Discussion VII

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.
    • Our 2025 light and dark themes were lost, so we are rebuilding them. Light theme is currently available, but work in progress

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

Another goal! Barracuda score THREE goals in 1:19 and we're up 5-4! Cardwell, from Regenda and Poturalski.

That's the score after two periods in what is a really silly game. All I'm going to say is don't take any bad penalties in the third, Condors keep trying to get post-whistle shenanigans going and the referees have been pretty selective about what they're calling out of those.

Furlong-Keane has been having a rough go of it, but we're pretty shorthanded on D, not surprising we're not playing to our full potential back there.

And after giving up six goals and looking generally meh all game, Aaron Dell suddenly busts out a huge save with 30 seconds to go.

After a Bakersfield timeout, Poturalski completes the natural hat trick off a very unselfish pass from Cardwell. 8-6 Barracuda is your final, it is two points in regulation and I will take it.

Probably should check my blood pressure after that one, but let me just run this down:

Four points apiece for Poturalski (3G 1A) and Gushchin (2G 2A)
Cardwell with 1G and 1A

And then 2A for all of the following: Bordeleau, Thompson, Regenda, Houle, Pitlick.

The win itself puts us nine points ahead of the eighth-place Bakersfield Condors, and one point behind fourth place. We are back home against these same Condors tomorrow night @ 5 on NBCSN-CA, but I cannot guarantee a 14-goal game like we just had here tonight.

Goal extravaganza tonight, glad our offense could get it done because it was looking like it was going to be a tough watch early on.

Dell's just generally been shaky this year, that wasn't all that surprising. That last save he made (couple posts up) was the biggest he made all year, though. Great time for it.

I generally regard Furlong as solid but unspectacular, prone to the occasional gaffe. He had a really rough game tonight, that Philp (Condors goal 6) goal especially was brutal. Glad this isn't the norm for him. In fact our defense felt like they were back on their heels often tonight.

As far as why these two games are so big for us IMO, there's only 11 regular season games for us after tomorrow's game. Bakersfield is in 8th, so they're on the outside looking in as far as playoffs go right now. Right now, as it stands, we are nine points ahead of them, like I said above. We win again tomorrow, we're 11 points up. It'd take a lot for them to make up that kind of ground in their final dozen games. And if eighth place can't catch us, well... I can start looking forward to potential playoff matchups.
