Barracuda have signed center Rem Pitlick. Full contract, not a tryout.

He would count as one of our veterans. He put up 57 points in 59 games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton and Rockford last season.

Any idea why he hasn't played at all this season? Injury?

I don't actually know of any reason, it just seems like nobody signed him until now. His social media just shows him working with his brother in Minnesota on some hockey training stuff.

Also funny that he's wound up here considering he was part of the Erik Karlsson trade.
Weird. He's good enough that I feel like he should have been worthy of an AHL contract even counting as an AHL veteran. Maybe he just needed some time off hockey?

Is this an indication that the Sharks are planning on keeping Poturalski up longer?

Well keep in mind that prior to the Sharks calling up Poturalski, they took Colin White from us, so we already had a need at forward. Specifically I feel like we could use someone at 2C. I would love to move Bystedt to 3C and make that more of a defensive line. I think Poturalski comes back down once the Four Nations break starts.

I'm not sure if Pitlick will be a center for us though, seems like he played at wing for Rockford.

So you anticipate White having an extended stay with the Sharks? I dunno, something just isn't adding up.

Maybe neither of them does. But I think it makes more sense to have White stay up than Poturalski. White's fast, does well on the PK, he can fill a role while playing in the bottom six. Whereas Poturalski is a scorer who doesn't score in the NHL.

Poturalski's callup struck me as a pat on the back for his AHL play rather than wanting to give him an actual NHL look. Sharks have injuries, they're about to go on an extended NHL break, it's perfect timing. The Cuda are not on break during Four Nations, so I am guessing he's back in the AHL after this weekend.

(At least, I'm hoping he's back ASAP)

Unless Pitlick has straight up not been skating/training for the past 9 months I have to think he immediately becomes the best forward on the Cuda.
