It's funny, I thought Muk played great until we got to the very end, and then that turnover was one of the most brutal things I've seen in an OT.

His play today on defense I thought was good, he was separating guys from the puck, using his stick well, he broke up a 2-on-1 at one point. He was skating well with the puck. His offense seems like it's disappeared, which is a headscratcher.
I thought Mukh was quite good overall, but that OT shift was just stupid.
There were some good plays for sure, but he had 2 turnovers in the 3rd where he passed the puck up the boards to no one. He also got hit a couple times and seemed to have happy feet after that. To be fair, the Wranglers are a huge physical team.

To come in to the AHL as a 5’8, 19 year old defenseman and seemingly have zero issue adjusting — in fact, dominating — is just awesome. I believed in Cagnoni but I didn’t expect him to start figuring it out quite this quickly. He’s still got lots of space to grow but I’m really impressed.

He’s also 2nd among defenseman in pts and 4 pts behind the NHL points leader (one Colin Graf).

It’s hard to be flashy when you make everything look effortless. Part of the reason why people are reticent to pump his tires.

What more can you say about Cagnoni at this point? He plays at such a high level and makes it look like it's easy. I never would've expected this is what we were getting from him, this early.

If we're going to call someone up anytime soon, forward-wise, I think pretty much everyone agrees by now it should be Graf. Another two points from him in this one, that makes 19 in 14GP, while being one of our better defensive forwards at the same time. Gushchin's also playing some great hockey, but maybe they want to look at someone new.

Justin Bailey, when he's motivated, is such a weapon. But he's only seemed motivated in about half the games he plays. I dunno, maybe he didn't take the demotion well.

One thing we're missing from our hot start early in the season is our bottom six scoring, the fourth line in particular. Neither Vanroboys nor Vincent have put up a point in the past seven games. They add other things to the lineup, but when we were at our best, we were getting goals from all over the roster.

What Graf and Cagnoni are doing is something I've waited for AGES from a Sharks prospect. So many promising players hit the AHL and then put up a performance that is nothing to write home about.

Oh yea we know you're excited, this is like your fourth post about needing these type of AHL numbers from prospects haha

I’m terrified of Luca’s size. Who was the last undersized d-man of that stature to really thrive in the nhl? Krug?

Cagnoni is a lottery ticket. If a lottery ticket, which I received for free, fails to win anything, I'm not really sad about it.

Is this post a meme? Maybe I'm getting "wooshed", but you know that guy who won the Norris?

And honestly, I dont know who else his comparables are at this point. 19 year old undersized LD, comes in and has immediate impact a pro levels. Obviously, Quinn did it in the NHL, but still... Just comparing their games and trajectory, if anything Luca is more composed and defensively capable than Hughes was at the same age. Maybe a bit less flash, but it feels more like he has gotten to the point where it is more about pick spots and being responsible than showing off. If you are looking for flash, he has the cleanest Michigan I've ever seen...

The thing is, he’s short but he seems pretty thick/sturdy. I’m 5’9 and I think Luca weighs like 20 pounds more than I do. Also, if he’s surviving and thriving in an aggressive, sometimes fairly-violent AHL, I’m hopeful about his chances at the NHL level but obviously we’ll see. I suspect he’s going to be very, very good.
