I'm glad McCarthy is coming back. He has done a phenomenal job developing Graf, Ostapchuk, Mukhamadullin, Eklund, Chernyshov, Bystedt and Lund.

In fact I don't think there's a single prospect who has entered the system since McCarthy took over as Cuda HC who has underperformed reasonable expectations. I don't really give a shit whether or not the Barracuda win games and find it bizarre when Sharks fans want him fired for that reason. His job is not to win the Calder Cup.

I believe there is an alternate universe in which the AHL team can both develop players while also competing for the Calder cup. It doesn’t have to be one or the other.

Maybe but I wouldn't get rid of the guy who seems to be accomplishing the far more important goal. I would be more concerned if we had a coach like Warsofsky in his Wolves days piling up championships at the expense of prospect development.

Lucas Carlsson won't return

Djurgården is very happy to welcome Lucas Carlsson to the organization club. The 28-year-old comes most recently from the San Jose Sharks organiazation and has in the last 8 seasons 74 NHL games, 370 AHL games, and totaled 234 points to... something. The defenseman has signed a contract which goes over the coming four (?) seasons.

"In Lucas we get a... 'decent-passing' (?) defensemen who controls play with the puck. His puckcarrying is going to contribute to us playing outside of our own zome with control and speed more often. He has also special qualifications offensively on the power play, not least thanks to his shot," said coach Marcus Due-Boje.

"It's going to be very cool! My family and I are glad to continue our adventure in Stockholm and be a part of Djurgården the coming four years," said Lucas.

...

My best translation, as a Norwegian learner who is not close to fluent.

This time last year I had high hopes for Musty. I didn't really believe in Cherny then but many other people here were praising some him as some dark horse prospect to look out for. I was not dazzled by his highlights, most of his OHL goals were him standing in front of the net and Misa bouncing it off of his butt. And then, Cherny suited up for the Cuda and...it was love at first sight.

You guys were right.

I wouldn't give up on Musty's NHL future, but I will say that if the Sharks draft Stenberg, that future is not with the Sharks

Hey, stuff's happening finally.

Huntington I said was a must-sign, and he's back. Happy about that one. 2C who does good work on special teams.

I like that Hoffmann's getting a contract, he proved to be solid scoring depth and even if he winds up yo-yoing between AHL and ECHL that's still worth it.

Sarsland was the one D tryout that I said didn't show much of anything. But if he's getting signed, I'd hope the other two are.

Additional Cuda/Sharks news from a few days ago, Lucas Carlsson has signed with Djurgardens in Sweden, so he'll no longer be with the org.
