Barracuda News & Discussion VII

  • Xenforo Cloud has upgraded us to version 2.3.6. Please report any issues you experience.
Joe Carroll has been loaned to Team Canada for the Spengler Cup.

It seems like an odd choice, Carroll has been playing in the ECHL all season but is still under Barracuda contract, but then the Spengler Cup is a bit of an odd tournament.

Okay, so they finally changed both of our third period goals vs. CV today (a couple days after the game)

Goal 4: Cagnoni (Bystedt, Gushchin)
Goal 5 (EN): Furlong (Vincent, Poturalski)

So no more two-point game for Graf, Furlong does indeed now have his first AHL goal, and Poturalski actually finished the game with FOUR points, not three.

I'm pretty sure I've never seen a game where they had to change the scoring on more than one goal days later.

Alright, well White's back out, with Vanroboys in. First time the original line 4 has been together in a long time.

Coe comes in for the first time in a while, replaces Bordeleau. Not sure what's up there.

Condors are wearing some red alternates which are a very weird clash with the rest of their gear, IMO (edit: Ok, they were just warmups. That's a good thing).

Nollenberger points out that Bakersfield has the worst power play in the league (10.9%), and in fact they've yet to score a PPG at home.

White still dealing with the foot issue, Bordeleau with "undisclosed injury."

So odd to me that the Barracuda seem to have just a few ads that they then play all year. They keep playing this Toyota ad advertising a deal on tires that's Halloween-themed (since the season started in October)

It's why last year the DGDG guy kept declaring "Fall is in the air" during ad breaks.

Barracuda looking a little flat to start this one. Schuldt with a rare miscue and turnover that Romanov bails him out on with a big glove save.

0-0 after one period. Condors had a couple good looks, but there hasn't been much else happening yet. Shots 13-6 Bakersfield, Cuda went 0/1 on the PP.

Kannok-Leipert has been looking to start something. I remember this guy as a pest with Abbotsford the last few years.

Jake Furlong needs to start paying attention to where he's passing the puck.

Bystedt's fine, he's already back out there.

Caggiula took a penalty trying to go after Vanroboys, who was just not willing to fight back. Good discipline from him.

Lot of pushing and shoving happening after each whistle.

Still 0-0, two periods in the books. Been pretty even. Shots 24-23 Bakersfield. Romanov with a big save on a Jacob Perreault breakaway in the final minute.

Hey McCarthy, how about we not break up line 4 again?

Condors finally break through, 1-0. Almost everyone on the ice seemed to be in the crease.

Looked like Romanov thought he had that one.

Anthony Vincent gets run over for absolutely no reason by Josh Brown, and Vincent is still down. Trainer comes out.

Really stupid penalty from Brown. Barracuda do nothing with the power play, though.

Condors make it 2-0 with four minutes to go. Blugh. Kannok-Leipert of all people.

Bakersfield's an obnoxious team. Cuda offense has been pretty lifeless on top of it. Rodrigue's been great, but I've not felt like we've challenged him a whole lot.

Well, if not for the extracurriculars that game probably would've put me to sleep.

2-0 Condors is your final, the road trip is over but we're right back in action tomorrow night against these same Condors in San Jose. Wonder if we'll see Aaron Dell for the first time. We're going to have to be a lot better than this.

I was pretty sure Nollenberger pointing out that power play stat was going to cause us to give a PPG up, but we avoided that by not being shorthanded all game.

Anthony Vincent didn't take another shift after the Brown hit, but they didn't really use line 4 late anyway.

Brandon Coe is one of 13 AHL players named to play for Team Canada at the Spengler Cup this holiday season in Davos, Switzerland

He had an in with management though, as Jumbo is the co-GM of Team Canada.

I'd love to make a thread about it because there's lots of Shark/Cuda related content across the tourney, but it appears there's no US broadcaster for it. It may be available on Youtube, I haven't checked.

Apparently US falls into "rest of world" and should be on YT

Two Cuda players (plus a few former Sharks/Cuda on Team Canada).
