No Merkley, again. (edit: Nollenberger did say it's injury related)

Chekhovich back with Letunov, which worked well the first time.

double edit: Lines aren't even accurate. Bergmann is with Chekhovich/Letunov, Gallant is on line 4 instead of Bergmann.

4-3 win. Goals from Middleton, True, Gregor and Handemark. Two assists each for Noesen and Blichfeld.

They started jumbling most of the lines in the third, which sounds like a weird thing to do when you're winning at that point. Except they had a good first line in Gregor-True-Blichfeld, and then three lines with very little chemistry. We finally get to play someone other than Bakersfield and Henderson on Saturday (San Diego). Probably more new lines then.

Concerning (for their long term NHL viability) that the C + C Scoring Factory feat. MC Grew has been shut down. Not surprising after not producing at the AHL level. They should be producing hits.

Chmelevski's weird to watch lately. Lot of "That was a good move- oh, now that's a turnover" when he's on the ice. When he was put with Chekhovich for a couple games the two didn't click at all. In fact that line was on the ice for all three of Bakersfield's goals in Wednesday's game.

I'd expect Chekhovich to have new linemates again Saturday. Letunov and Chmelevski seemed like good people to put him with, but those lines mostly just got pinned inside the defensive zone for good portions of their shifts.

Barracuda game will be free on AHL TV this coming Saturday.

7 PM @ San Diego, same time as Sharks vs. LA unfortunately.

Too early for lines (will edit with those) but the AHL TV site is showing some surprises. Brandon Coe active today, which would be his second AHL game, Weinger coming back from injury as well. Robbie Russo also returns. Lines will be interesting.

No Gregor, Handemark or Jaros (all on taxi squad, so that top line of Gregor-True-Blichfeld won't be intact), Halbgewachs out as well.

edit, lines:

Chekhovich getting put into a very nice spot tonight.

Well that snowballed. 7-3 Gulls. Barracuda with an absolute parade to the penalty box in the second half of the game and San Diego scored three PP goals off that. Four 3rd period goals for them total.

Goals from True, Kellman and Letunov. Two assists for Bergmann.

Noesen was playing angry today. He's starting to get his game back, too.

Chmelevski at least had a nice assist on the Kellman goal at the end, though the game was starting to resemble a low-impact scrimmage by that point:

Hey guys I'm sorry if this is the wrong place, but where is Melnichuk? Is he no longer with the Barracuda?

5PM puck drop. Happy for the early start- the less game overlap, the better. Reedy (#54) in for the first time, w/ Kellman and Noesen. Melnichuk back in goal.

Leschychyn hit True high near the end of regulation, True stays down and got looked at by the trainers. No penalty, of course. Same guy that hit Merkley high.

Edit: Oh wow. Line brawl.

That game took a big turn at the end. Robbie Russo took a delay of game penalty with a little over 2 minutes to go and HSK scored on the ensuing penalty to tie it at 1. Then the above post happened. True did not return to the game. Rest of the game was pretty uneventful up til then. Cuda PP is just terrible lately.

Went to shootout. First two Henderson shooters scored, Melnichuk then stopped all until the sixth shooter Dorofeyev, who basically Forsberged him.
Shootout for SJ: Blichfeld (x), Reedy (o), Chekhovich (o), Letunov (x), Chmelevski (x), McGrew (x)

McGrew scored the only goal, Coe gets his first AHL point on the primary assist:

I really love it when refs don't call a penalty, and then don’t blow the play dead while the puck is in the offensive zone for the team with the injured player. Then they allow the other team to take it down the ice. Player safety comes first.

AHL announces suspension

And, Bergmann gets an automatic suspension for taking an instigator penalty in the last five minutes.

Has Bergmann played his way out of the Sharks' plans? He has three assists in nineteen games. Bergmann might have been the most obvious replacement for Noesen (physical fourth-line winger), but Gabriel and then Viel have essentially leapfrogged him.

He's starting to get a little bit of his game back but he feels a long way off from getting a recall this season. He is a little snakebit, he seems to spring open for a breakaway now and then (obviously doesn't score off them). He's one of the few guys left on this team with any physicality, so he's good to have in the lineup for that.

I've also got to point out that two of his assists were in the same game, on Saturday. He had zero points for the entire month of March.

Been a few forwards that I thought might be close to breaking through onto the NHL roster after last season that instead took big steps back. Bergmann, Letunov, Halbgewachs in particular.

Korenar starting (swapped place with Melnichuk on taxi squad). True taking warm ups (after getting injured last game).

Yeah, looks like he's in. Along with the goalie swap, looks like the only other personnel change is Gallant in for the suspended Bergmann.

Already been a fight, Middleton just beating the tar out of Loewen.

Disappointed this game is at home, because the camerawork at Solar4America is just awful. Everything after the whistle is happening out of frame until the operator can bother to turn their head that direction.
