He needs to have great Olympics next year to solidify his status in the National Team as well. Selänne can add all time Olympic point leader status to his NHL accolades. Barkov has only had one chance and got injured right away back then. :/

Awesome to have the top two Selke vote getters on the same team. What a luxury it must be.

Congrats to Barkov on the awards. Very deserving. One of those players whose brilliance is as much away from the puck as on the puck.

Clancy actually is the most prestigious award there is. It values the player who has a good heart and tries to help any persons in need. Teammate, friend or community! I actually value this highest. As Zito said - Florida Panthers begins and ends with Barky! He is the heart and soul of the team!

Yeah international play doesn't matter for his NHL legacy at all, but it does matter for how he is seen in Finland, especially by the more casual crowd. I hope it happens because he deserves to get recognition here too, right now Marko freaking Anttila is probably better recognized if you'd ask a random Finn on the street. (Maybe I'm exaggerating a bit but...)

"Best Finnish National Team player ever" -no
"Best Finnish hockey player ever" -depends on what you value, no?

I don't think we can just completely ignore Selänne's all time most points in the Olympics as an overall hockey accomplishment, just because it didn't happen in the NHL. It doesn't matter for his NHL legacy, but it does for his overall player legacy. It's of course kind of unfair for Barkov at the moment because of lack of opportunities, but he should get ~3 Olympics if all goes well.

kinda sucks a lot of guys from this era lost out on those kind of international accolades because they weren't doing best on best tournaments :/
