Can I just take this oppurtunity to once again state how much I hate it when broadcasts do random closeups while the f***in play is ongoing. No one needs to see a zoom in on Bob’s nostrils, while the puck is in movement and f***in plays are going on.

Every damn game you miss chunks of play cause the NHL thinks they are Martin Scorsese.

At least it's not football, where 90% of the time all you see is the quarterback or a coach's reaction.

The camera angle strategies during NHL games can vary between arenas tbh

Some suck

I watch a variety of broadcasts. Even if it’s oilers games I’ll watch the US feed for shits and giggles sometimes. It seeeeems like it’s every broadcast, whether TNT, ESPN, or the worse, SN. But I haven’t really done any formal tracking of it.

I thought the Amazon broadcast was pretty good overall. I don’t remember if the zoom cuts happened at a higher or lower frequency than usual though, but I’ve only seen 2 games on there and wasn’t specifically looking for it. So you could be right.

The clip did not match the thread title. Barkov steals the puck and draws a penalty.

The title made it seem like he would beat the defenders and score... or at least get a shot on goal.

Not really threadworthy.
Alone against 4 guys, steals the puck not once but twice, dangles them, keep the puck against 4 guys, while his teammates go for linechange and in the opposing end after getting the puck there, then drives for the net and get hooked and draw a penalty. On the PP he immediatly score the winner. "Whole lotta nothing"...

I mean, nice display of patience but this sure is a dramatic title for what he actually did for the goal.

he did a whole lot of nothing there
Whether this is thread worthy is up for debate but you're objectively wrong that he did "nothing". He drew a penalty on the play then scored the OT goal on the PP after.

Also, he was on the ice for a minute or two defending in his own zone before this happened, so this clip doesn't really do the feat justice. (Not to mention panning to Bobrovsky while it happens..)

Yup.. I remember two seasons ago when the media was cheerleading for Eric Bieniemy to get a head coaching job.. the camera would stay on him the entire time Chiefs offense was on the field.
It's become like pro wrestling.. you can tell which coaches & QBs the NFL and media want to 'get over' by how/when they're filmed.
As Bieniemy failed in Washington, his solo shots became much less..

Back in the early Sean Mcvay days as LAR head coach, it was ridiculous how much screen time he received every game lol. 22 starters on the field but all you see is the coach hiding his mouth with his clipboard between 2 adverts.

Great shift. Could've used more shots of Bobrovsky standing in his crease while the puck is in the other end though.
