Title says it all. Does this team come out the way it does and play the way it does because Barkov does not seem to show the passion or urgency? Do we need a new leader? He just seems way to passive. We have seen multi seasons with slow starts or team isn't ready to play. Even under Q it seemed like they just were never ready to play.

Barkov is a great regular season player. High hockey IQ, and a great player overall. Some of the things he does on the ice is amazing. But he's too much of a shrinking violet in the playoffs. He is this generations Sedin twin. We won't win the Stanley Cup with him as our main piece.

Pretty sure the captain of the other team put up with this narrative for 10 years before he shut the haters up. OV as well. Took him what, 13 years to get over the hump?

Barkov will be fine.

With that said, definitely concerning performances from our core this series. Assuming they aren't hurt.

We need Lundell to step up. Become the Pavelski type player

Stamkos? He's not considered the main guy for Tampa. Probably the 5th most important piece on their team at best.

A captain doesn't have to be some loudmouth hardo and we don't really know the dynamics of their room. I remember an episode on Spittin Chicklets where PJ Stock said even though Jumbo was the captain in Boston the vets did a lot of the heavy lifting in terms of leadership.

So I'm not saying Barkov as captain is the problem, but I do think we do have some confidence/character/leadership issues. No way we should be wilting like this.

Barkov isn't the problem. The gulf in talent between Tampa and Florida is not so great as for a series sweep, and yet here we are.

The problem is standing behind the bench. I think now that the team is on its way out the door, we can acknowledge that turning the keys over to a total novice was a huge gamble and it didn't pay off.

The core doesn’t have It. ekblad a pass due to injuries.

I'm just trying to find out why they come out super flat for the first 7 games of the playoffs? We have seen them come out flat a lot over the past 3 seasons. Q was here when it happened so i wanted to see what people have thought.

Team needs a coach that isn’t afraid to bench stars and promote hardworking plugs. As much as I hate to say it, a hardass like Tortorella would squeeze everything good from this group onto the ice. It wouldn’t be pretty, but it would be commendable.

This team lacks fundamentals.

I did see at one point Hornqvist yelling at Brunette. Either what to do or telling him to do something

You know now that you mention it we often come out flat in individual games too so there is definitely a problem somewhere.

Like we had something like 29 comeback wins this year right? That sounds impressive but why are we always down in the first place lol

Hornqvist is a warrior. Might be imperfect, but we need more like him.
