Ball/Dek Hockey Tips?

You wrote exactly what I was about to say.

Ponder was probably thinking of street hockey or something lol.

The offsides we use are slightly different than ice hockey offsides however. I believe it's called the floating red line or something along those lines.

Yeah that damn floating red line screwed my team up so much in our first year. We'd stand around hollering for an offside that didn't come...we learned quick though lol

Some leagues also have weird icing rules (you can shoot it from your own blue line sometimes) and the refs have a tendency to let the clock run instead of calling game stoppages such as icing and offsides.

One thing I've noticed is that a lot of people seem to play without taping their sticks. I tried it recently and it does seem to help.

This. I don't see why people tape their blades for street or ball hockey. It hurts A LOT more than it helps. Keep taping blades to ice.

If you get a good look, you shoot 100% of the time.
Use the boards when clearing as much as possible.
Defensive tip: When it doubt, out.
