Bakersfield Condors 24-25 thread

They’ve shown him what they think of him.

Just stat watching today… Brochu’s numbers ain’t gonna survive this one.
Which is unfortunate, because he's got skill. Having D'Amato on the top line over a guy who's actually signed has me questioning the coaching staff.

Petrov has been pretty brutal this year. 1 goal in his last 25 games. 3 goals in the 44 games around that five game heater.

I wouldn't be surprised if he terminates the last year of his deal and heads home this offseason.

He had that one stretch for 2 weeks where he had a pulse. There was a game they played him in the Top-6 around the new year, he took a hit along the boards to make the play and pick up the assist, but since then has been nursing an injury. Nonetheless, they've defaulted to D'Amato being the guy who gets the bump, and I suppose I get it, he was the only one going at the start.

I could see him packing up and heading home as well. The writing is on the wall and the previous regimes prospects continue to get pruned. A lil unfortunate if we sign his junior center or bring a comrade in Beryozkin over next season.

Dont be so pessimistic, there’s still a chance that they will develop him properly and trade him for a 7th round pick or lose him to an offer sheet!

Me being pessimistic!?!?

Your the one saying he’d be traded for a 7th.

He will be traded for at least an injured 34 year old on an expiring contract who plays 26 minutes for us.

Sheesh! Some people…. :sarcasm: :sarcasm:

I haven't been monitoring the usage much this season. But I get the sense that this coaching staff dicks its players around a bunch and favors veterans in many instances despite it being a team that struggles to produce offense.

Petrov won't drive a low skill line. He's a complimentary winger. I think it'd be a waste allowing him to walk without using him in the role his game is built for.

As it stands, it looks like Chaulk wants his guys to buy into a physical, penalty-ridden game.

Unfortunately Petrov hasn't shown much of anything wherever he is in the lineup outside that one week.

Chaulk wants two-way buy in and that's another reason Petrov is down the lineup. He's not only not scoring, but he doesn't really put in the effort on the defensive side of things either. He kind of just exists right now hence where he is in the lineup. He'd probably be even lower if they weren't so injury riddled that they have an ECHL defenseman at RW on the third line.

Man the Oilers pipeline is in dire shape. The Oilers have to have the worst prospect pool in the league and not by an insignificant margin, even their best prospect in Savoie is kind of mid especially compared to other top prospects. I don't know if it's a talent deficit or coaching down there but it's ugly, probably a bit of both?

No big loss because like Carter Savoie, Petrov can't score in the AHL. :dunno:
Savoie scored fine in the AHL last season considering the opportunity. Instead of re-signing him after trading for his brother, they chose to sign a 25 year old undrafted Cam Wright to put up the exact same production.

Maybe holding on to a guy like Carter Savoie may not have hurt considering we're giving Petrov an ECHL center and a defenseman as his linemates.

There's a problem with the way our AHL team is being run.

Kieth Gretzky, take a bow.

Yet another Oiler nepotism hire.

Also Colin Chaulk is another Mike Babcock disciple. You can always tell the Babcock guys, they all try to sound like him. Chaulk needs to be fired into the sun.
The AHL conundrum for a coach is wins vs development. They have some overlap but often conflict. This year the team is getting neither it seems.
