Bakersfield Condors 24-25 thread

Jarventie apparently headed to Finland?

That means that once you get past Savoie, not one guy on the Condors is considered a legitimate NHL prospect.

Petrov is not having a good season?

Jarventie probably wasn't NHL bound anyway but wow, what skinny pickings on the farm.

Why we traded for Jarventie is beyond me. Most sens fans said he did not have what it took to be a regular in the nhl. Only bright spot is we only gave up Bourgault for him

Where did another Condor touch it? wtf?
A Mc-D type move with that type of hand-eye coordination. Well, he won't be as good as that guy but let's hope over the course of the summer they will hang on to this (their one prospect who looks like an NHL'er) and not get into more of this "win now" stuff and trade him away.

The Oilers need to do some re-tooling over the next few years and this guy looks legit. Hopefully he will be in the lineup full time by October.

There needs to be a solid talk between management and the coaching staff before next year. Not just Savoie specific, but lineups as a whole. Guys need to be given a shot with realistic time in positions more or less where they can succeed and not start the blender when a guy makes a mistake. The coach and GM should also be on the same page when it comes to what kind players the GM is bringing in too.

I'm still not sold that it was the right thing to do by not playing Savoie after that game in ANA. Give him a game break to watch from the pressbox and then give him a shot to redeem himself.

It was a change of scenery type deal work guys who had been failing to get traction in their respective organizations, similar to the Samorukov-Kostin swap from a few years ago. Jarventie was a good bet as he’s a better prospect just with massive health questions. Plus they used the 4th rounder they got from Ottawa to pick up Podkolzin who’s played more NHL games this year than the other three guys in the deal likely will combined in their careers.

I was going to say without looking up that the pick we got in the deal could very well be the best asset in the deal.

Appears that could end being the case

I feel like he's in the organization's doghouse but some good moves from Philp. Condors lost 8-6 after leading the game 3-0.

They had Keith Gretzky on with Stauffer a week or two ago, and he mentioned that Philp was hitting a wall endurance wise. Makes sense as he missed a year and has only ever once played 60+ games in a season this decade.

It's the same with Emberson on the big team. Though his situation is likely more due to him getting tagged on the forecheck so often this year, while Philp just isn't use to the minutes played.

A disappointing season for Petrov for sure. He had that one spurt, then not so much.

A whole lot of meh in AHL.. wondering why we couldn't just keep Carter Savoie especially if we planned on playing his brother in AHL for majority of the season

I get Rodrigue hasn't had the best year so far, but he needs an NHL game or two. If he's called up only to sit on the bench, I will be extremely disappointed.

Big win for the Condors. At least 3 Condors made their debuts tonight. Josh Prokop from the Golden Bears, Brady Stonehouse and goalie Brett Brochu. Brochu has had a 0.920 and a 0.924sv % in the ECHL the last 2 seasons. Maybe we have a late bloomer on our hands? 8-2 Condors.
Shoutout to my guy, Ethan Keppen, too. 5 points in 6 games for Bako after the call-up.

He was one of my favourite OHLers in the draft(until the Canucks drafted him then he was dead to me). He always seemed like a guy with a 3rd/4th line floor to me. It'd be cool if he earns an NHL deal and turns into a 4th line call-up option.

I know nothing about him but he had a huge night last night. 2-1-3 I believe. What is his game like?

Yes I guess you've "outed" me---time to confess.

I suppose I made a few errors in judgement in my days with the Oilers but don't worry, I'm o.k.

I saved up a lot of bucks in my days with Detroit and now I am a motel owner in Saginaw Michigan. It's all good.
Is it tough to get a room at your place?

He was fun to watch in the OHL. Big power forward that loved to shoot and play physical. Didn't fight, but had a nonstop motor on the forecheck. The skating was a little wonky, but he had lots of hockey sense and a really advanced defensive game back then.

I haven't followed him much since his OHL days, but he always struck me as a guy who could be a decent skater if he cleaned up his technique. Maybe he finally did that.
