Imagine if we didn't win 5-0 and only won 3-2 , this place would be very sour right now.:naughty:
I think if the Jets had been at the same level of dominance and won 3-2 it would still be good times in here.

There's the process and then there's the results. Last night was full marks on both, with bonus points for the scoreboard beatdown.

I didn't have a chance to share a favourite Jets memory in the GDT so I will do it here.

When I was seven years old, my dad took me to the SportsTraders on Ness Avenue and we stood in line to get a wooden Winnwell hockey stick and a Keith Tkachuk card signed by the big guy Keith Tkachuk himself. That would be my first Jets memory and one of the fondest. I still have that Winnwell today, 30 years later.

I hope you are wrong and Heinola turns out to be a capable pker and the team never needs anyone else again, but will believe it when I see it.
I think he's got to get some confidence to be an every day player, and the coach has to get points too. Every team you play brings a different strategy, and Arniel so far seems capable of managing players to keep their confidence up and match up against his opponents.

I thought Heinola was decent, he can learn a lot about gap control from Josh Morrissey. PKing is only one aspect of the game, I'm not sure he is physical enough for that role at the NHL level. He's probably an injury away from some PP reps, which would be the next level of impact I'd expect from him.

Watching Ottawa play last night, I think that's a game the Jets want Stan in for.

When my parents migrated here, their priorities were to give us a home we would be proud of and a comfortable life (which they did in spades). They were so focused in providing, they never had time for us outside work.

Fast forward to 92 and I’m 12. Teemu broke into the league and the hype was so strong I really wanted to see what it was all about. My best friends parents brought me along to my very first game mid November against the Rangers.

It made such an impression, I begged my parents to get me gear. The following weekend we headed out to Royal Sports and I got an Easton Wayne Gretzky Aluminum Stick (which I still have) and “99” branded Bauer skates.

I would spend time at the local rinks and my buddies would make fun of me on the ice, but at the same time were super supportive and overly protective when another kid would talk smack or target me. I never played organized hockey, but to experience the comradery and horsing around with my buds made me love the game even more. In my late teens I developed fallen arches and decided to stop playing Hockey all together.

In 2011 my love for the game returned when our beloved Jets came back. I bought skates for myself and wife this Christmas. I’m looking forward to lacing them on this Wednesday. Im prepared to embarrass myself, and I know I’ll love every moment of it.

Physicality. Kaprizov, Zuccarello, Boldy and Rossi are not the most physical matchups the Jets are going to get, they took advantage of fatigue, with better legs.

Tkachuk, Batherson and the bottom line players are going to be more physical than what the Jets saw last night.

You can't always outskate physicality. Sometimes have to match it.

I agree but i have tried very hard to see more positives than negatives with Stanley and i just don't see it. I honestly think we are a better team overall without Stanley playing.

I still like Stanley's impact with home ice advantage.

Boston is the only team that has really tried to goon it up this year against the Jets. But there's some Eastern teams on the upcoming schedule that will require the Jets to play tougher.

I don't ever get discouraged about one player. I've been through Bautin, Cronin Gord Donnelly, Jim Kyte days of the Jets. I think Arniel is doing better than previous coaches in using players that are available and giving young guys some rope.

It's been a blast to watch this team. It should be acknowledged as one of the best Jets skating teams in their history. Decorated with a Tree.

The only Jet I ever met was Mark Scheifele at one of his summer camps. Those were great. Kids all had smiles. My only autographed Jets memorilibia is a signed puck after the first playoff appearance in modern history.

I met Bob Essensa as a security guard when he was on the Canucks. Just gave each other the nod.

My favourite memory still has to be going to games in the old upper deck with my dad and my granny. Before it became my brother and me. And something passed down to the next generation of hockey fans.

Playing hockey on Portage and Main the day the team came back, with a break in the action for Sara Orlevsky and Dancing Gabe's appearances was a memorable moment for me.

I grew up playing on backyard rinks and I've had the chance to ice a few more and play goalie for the next generations of hockey players and fans in Winnipeg.

Hockey is part of the culture I grew up in. And the Jets were and are again a part of that.

The next game against Toronto should give us a real good idea, as to where this team stands. The Leafs are a good club, and if the Jets beat them, it will be a big statement game.
The smart people know where the Jets stand … they are a SC contender and so are the Leafs. Win or lose as long as the Jets compete it will boil down who gets a bounce or who makes one better play.
It’s funny every top team has or is going through the same problems the Jets had … schedule and injuries and yet the Jets are still in 1st place.

I don't know what the Jets record is when they play a game just before the Christmas break but it seems like they check out early for their mini vay cay. Weird game time start might make for an interesting game.

Reading all these memories about hockey and families and Jets history and childhood dreams and upbringing .... have really made my morning. Thank you all for your wonderful sharing. Such a lovely read compared to most GDTs and PGTs.

These posts reminded me of a game (?) we used to play in uni which involved each girl listing the qualities she'd most want in a husband. The best answer was determined by popular vote. I remember one time the winning quality was: Often reads books to his children.

I'm in such a good mood right now, I'm not even angry (well, maybe just a little) to discover that our game against the Leafs tomorrow morning is not available on the edge of the ocean. I'd grumble longer but I've just finished a long, large lunch and I'm in desperate need of an award-winning nap.
