Didn't Helle venture outside of the organization for goaltending help many years ago. For Helle at this point of his career a goalie coach is more of a sounding board especially after a off night. Technically Helle is about as sound as you will find in net.

I have never seen a poster in 10 years get picked on in here unless they are trying to cause stuff. The Jets aren't perfect that's for sure and i could see being negative about the team if we were, i don't know, Vancouver for example. To be constantly negative about the Jets, yes saying i don't think the Jets are going to win but i hope so is being negative.
1st in the NHL, 52-20-4 for 108 points
3rd in the league for goals scored
Least amount of goals against in the NHL
Best goals for / against in the NHL with a +84
And then to say the Leafs are going to win the Cup more than once on the Winnipeg Jets forum seems like you are trying to stir shit up, at least to me anyway. I will say it again if we were struggling to make the playoffs or not going to i can totally understand being negative but not at all with the season we are having. Go Jets Go .

I have said all year that the past 2 playoff exits have left a real sour taste in my mouth.
I also think that despite all these great regular season stats that the Jets have a very tough road since they will play either Dal or Col in round two, if they make it there and then one of LA, Edm or Vegas. Th Boston Bruins had one of the best regular seasons in recent memory only to lose in the first round. Anything can happen the playoffs. St.Lou could beat everyone based on how they are playing..
I am sorry, not sorry that my opinion about the Leafs is such a sore point for you. I respectfully suggest you not take it personally.
Finally, I am not trying to stir the pot but it seems those who do not drink the kool aid get lambasted but the poll I put up last week shows I am with the the majority of fans who are concerned based on the past 2 playoff appearances.

1. pretty much every backup and goalie we had aside from Helle, Brossoit, and Comrie regressed under Flats. so Hutch, Mason, Montoya, etc... True not a great list....but they all got WORSE under Flats...

2. Helle helped HIMSELF as an Odessa Jackalope. He was a high school nobody who exploded in the NAHL, and earned a draft pick and a scholarship.

When he went to Mass Lowell he went 38-12-2 with a .946SV% 1.6 GAAwith 12 shutouts.... Allstar, Hockey East Champions, Tournament MVP, Twice! and the Mike Richter Award for top tender in college hockey....
then AHL all star, .921 sv% on a crap Moose team.... the list goes on.
Do those numbers sound familiar? like the kind of numbers a multi Vez winner might put up in the NHL?

Flats was gifted a GOAT. We're lucky Helle bought his own consultants in and Flats didn't get a chance to ruin him like he ruined everyone else he's coached.

Flats sure as hell doesn't deserve credit for what Helle did.

Lots of goalies make it to the NHL with excellent records in juniors, college and the minors and don't end up the best of their generation

Not sure what you have against Flats, but clearly helped Helle become the goalie who he is today and it's 100% undeniable, despite your bias

Sound a little like he's used guided discovery as a coaching method with Helle. You need to know what type of person responds to that, and it looks likenhe nailed it

He was strong.

I feel kind of awful for Gus though. Waited to get back in so long, then one mistake and out.

4th line turnovers are egregious mistakes if they end up in the net. At TC I would have thought there was a chance that JAD gets Gus's job, before he broke his foot on the PK.

Long road back.

Team has a lot of character, including the guys who have to practice and wait for their next opportunity. Sometimes have to work your way back up.

I expect they will give Ehlers a few games off even if he could play.

I think the Utah game is probable. Just ask everyone to step up a notch. We're lucky to have Iafallo who has probably improved the top line since joining it.

Sure would be nice to have Fly and Pionk for the crucial games next week.

Who knew therd was such a sensitive segment of posters on here. As if Arniel would say that to his superstar goalie. If you did not get my sarcasam then I really cannot help you. Since, I also went on to admit I was wrong and ate crow.
The treatment I get out here is next level admonishment for having a different opinion. I am told to feel joy, act like the regular season should mean more than it does, ignore the fact there are other teams equal to or better than the Jets and ignore the fact they match up better with some teams than others. It is shocking but not as shocking as posters who take the time to press the ignore button.
It is petulant, ignorant and could be construed as bullying but I will not go away. I will be the voice of the marginized, the ignored, the bullied.

I hope Ehlers is in the lineup vs Utah, as every game is big right now to secure 1 st place.

If I had to guess, they’ll rest him for at least a game.

The best thing for the Jets is to have a heathy Ehlers ready for the playoffs. If Ehlers is not 100% his effectiveness wont do the Jets any good. The Jets need his speed to create chaos so let him rest.
The Jets did it with Schenn by sitting him out against the kings.

I'll just remind folks that the year after Helle "sucked" he spent the summer working with someone other than Flaherty and came back to have a stellar season. That was the 2016-17 season when Helle posted a .907 (.918 year prior, .924 year after).

I expect Flaherty isn't as bad as many (probably myself) have suggested over time, but I do not agree that he is responsible for Helle being as good as he is. Helle was good long before he got here and worked independent of Flaherty after the one (arguably) subpar season he had and hasn't had a season below .910 since that summer.

Consider it may be that Helle that is making Flaherty look good versus the other way around. I do expect they have an excellent working relationship.

Flaherty may be responsible for a career waiver wire guy (Comrie) having a stellar season.

He can't work with a Jets' coach in the off-season...against league rules.

He's outperforming more than half the league's starters.

I was a goalie, and I played a certain style up until college when an ex-NHL goalie coached me

Completely transformed my style and took me to another level (for shitty 3rd tier college hockey)

Can’t agree with your post at all. It’s like Coaches who always have their teams at the top or near it. Some people have a way with getting the best out of people, and Flaherty is one of those guys. A lot of it is psychological in instilling confidence in these guys, same as a team Coach, who sets the right mind set, and gets a team to believe in themselves. I guess we’ll have to agree to disagree on this.
