Post-Game Talk: Bagel City, Jets 4 - VGK 0

The IPTV service worked out pretty okay. It wasn't, I would say, as good as streaming service. It was probably 70% of what a regular quality feed would be. That said, it works out to $6 a month. So, you know, $35 versus $6. Plus I get all the soccer I want.

Weird, I'm trying to find some soccer to watch right now, and I wound up on that Sex Extreme channel again. And there's this lady brushing her teeth in the shower, and she has bruises on her bum. I think I know where this is going.

Anyway, it was a great game last night.

My bad, I thought that they had a longer stretch together

I think I was confused when pionk left the line up and they moved Schenn up and Fleury didn't look great with Miller maybe
3LD will probably be the most discussed position come playoff time.

Everybody else has a spot where they fit. Anderson-Dolan if he plays physical could stay ahead of Kupari and Gustafsson as long as Vilardi is out.

If Ehlers misses any time, Lamb Chop probably gets the next call.

Just FYI, TSN streaming runs promos sometimes. TSN broadcasts about 80% of Jets regular season games and I think it was $80 for 6 months. Worth it IMO if you don't want to get cable.

A bunch? Pavs? There isn't a goalie coach anywhere that could have made him decent. I'd like to hear about the rest of that "bunch" though

And he helped a 5th round pick become the best goalie on the planet, and maybe the best American born goalie of all time
I'll just remind folks that the year after Helle "sucked" he spent the summer working with someone other than Flaherty and came back to have a stellar season. That was the 2016-17 season when Helle posted a .907 (.918 year prior, .924 year after).

I expect Flaherty isn't as bad as many (probably myself) have suggested over time, but I do not agree that he is responsible for Helle being as good as he is. Helle was good long before he got here and worked independent of Flaherty after the one (arguably) subpar season he had and hasn't had a season below .910 since that summer.

Consider it may be that Helle that is making Flaherty look good versus the other way around. I do expect they have an excellent working relationship.

Flaherty may be responsible for a career waiver wire guy (Comrie) having a stellar season.

I believe Wade works with Helle's goalie coach so that he knows how to make tweaks in season if need be but I believe the direction largely comes from Helle's own coach.

Still it is clearly working well and Wade is smart enough to adapt his methods to what works for Helle.

I believe Comrie goes to the same goalie coach as does Brossoit which might explain why the other two work well here as Wade clearly has a good working relationship with said coach.

sorry. I think Talent and team D is what is showing through. Not some magical coaching. Flats had a Bunch of goalies get worse under his tutelage....somehow we don't talk about them....
No I totally get what you mean about the talent and the team D being a lot better. But with Helle coming in and being a 5th rd pick and getting to where he is now, from the help with Flats also, he's turned into one of the best goalies in the league for years now. But I didn't think that Brossoit and Comrie would get to the level that they both have shown or have been at. Also helps them both get richer than getting paid only $1m or less a season.

Comrie was awesome.
Cole with the 3 game goal streak.
Jets played really well despite some major pushback by Vegas.
Please get Mr Miyagi to heal Ehlers.

Onto Utah and f&^k Prime on Monday.
Next week is really tough.

I remember when 85% of this board wanted Flats fired...

I went to an IPTV website just now. Still not sure what it offers.

Does the soccer include EFL Championship?

I expect they will give Ehlers a few games off even if he could play.
I hope Ehlers is in the lineup vs Utah, as every game is big right now to secure 1 st place.

Anybody know if his injury was serious ? and will keep him out.

If I had to guess, they’ll rest him for at least a game.

1. pretty much every backup and goalie we had aside from Helle, Brossoit, and Comrie regressed under Flats. so Hutch, Mason, Montoya, etc... True not a great list....but they all got WORSE under Flats...

2. Helle helped HIMSELF as an Odessa Jackalope. He was a high school nobody who exploded in the NAHL, and earned a draft pick and a scholarship.

When he went to Mass Lowell he went 38-12-2 with a .946SV% 1.6 GAAwith 12 shutouts.... Allstar, Hockey East Champions, Tournament MVP, Twice! and the Mike Richter Award for top tender in college hockey....
then AHL all star, .921 sv% on a crap Moose team.... the list goes on.
Do those numbers sound familiar? like the kind of numbers a multi Vez winner might put up in the NHL?

Flats was gifted a GOAT. We're lucky Helle bought his own consultants in and Flats didn't get a chance to ruin him like he ruined everyone else he's coached.

Flats sure as hell doesn't deserve credit for what Helle did.

se my other post. By the time Helle got anywhere Near Flats he was a complete tender with record setting numbers.

I suspect we will know more when Arniel speaks after practice today.

Hey, I remember when 85% of this board wanted to fire Maurice, Huddy and Lauer, too...and we were right!

But it probably wouldn't have hurt to fire Flaherty. I don't think the goalie coach has a huge impact on the goalies themselves...they're just there to keep their heads on straight.
