Who even knows when Vilardi will be ready. We are under week left until playoffs and he's not even on the ice yet. I doubt he's ready for game 1.
I honestly don’t even recall what exactly his injury was thought to be. Some guys just can’t stay healthy.

Great stuff -- only caught the condensed game, which is always edited to provde a more balanced view of the game -- and the Jets still looked dominant.

I'd love to see them take home the Conferencel Jennings and even Prez this year -- these are real and substantial achievements over an 82 game season, no matter what the Stanley or Nuttin!!! crowd say, and capture the essence of a team that has proved to be more consistent and, yes, perseviliant than ever before, despite the relative talent gap between this year and 2017-18.

Looking like an incredible near-end to an incredible season, Hats up and off.

One difference for me personally between 25 and 18 is that I love this regular season for its own merits, regardless of how PO go. Of course I hope PO go as well as the regular season, but if not I will still love this regular season.

The bad 3rd rd exit in 18 left a sour taste in the mouth that I allowed to ruin much of the memory of the whole season. I'm not going to let that happen this time.

Right now, Jets are the best team in the world. IMO they will still be that even if Caps manage to overtake them for the Presidents thingy. Jets have achieved what they have in the tough Central Div. Caps achievement has come with them feeding on the weaker Eastern Conf.

On paper, they are not the best collection of hockey players on the planet. They are the best team. Coaching is part of that. Now go and be the best team in the PO boys.

I don't care if we win the first playoff game this year, as long as we win the last one :)

Damn it's good to be good.
Time for a dance

I guess it depends on how he plays, and he certainly could replace Appleton on the 3rd line, if not good enough for 2nd line center. When you get a guy that’s 6’4 - 220 lbs, and very fast, you want to keep him, if possible.
I understand that. You're not really following. Yes the Jets may want to keep him but most likely as a 3rd-4th line tweener.

People are saying 2c on here. Let's expand to include top 6er. If he seems himself as a 2C and top 6er, what has given you the impression that the Jets do? When have they played him there?

They've had several opportunities or looks to upgrade top 6ers over the last few years, when has Barron ever gotten that chance? 21-22 for a stint maybe when the Jets were throwing him, or gagner, or saku m, or Kuhlman next to scheifele.

Additionally, how the contracts and the high ranked prospects line up, where is the opening?

Methinks a little excessive exuberance here. Barron is looking great at 4C, at 26 YO, almost 27, not 22. Even thinking that he might be able to move up to 3C might be a bit of a stretch. Why can't we just be happy to have a good, productive 4C?

You can be whatever you want. Maybe direct your posts to the ones calling him or a chance to be a 2c.

I’ve been saying it since his first season here. If given a chance, Barron will prove himself to be much better than a fourth liner. I think he already has, but this is a deep team and there’s no way anybody is unseating Lowry for the 3C position.
Could he be a 2C? I sure wouldn’t mind giving him a chance given his all-around game. He just needs to prove that he can produce offence with the right players. That part of his game is unproven up to this point.

We are an aging organization with our window now.

Agree. He is looking very powerful offensively and solid defensively, but realistically, somewhere on the bottom-6 is his upside.

What differentiates top-6 from bottom-6 players (especially Cs) is that the former make the players around them better by their vision and puck distribution. That is an extremely rare skill which unfortunately Barron doesn't excel at. If he did, with his size and speed, he would have been drafted much higher and would cost us a lot more money in the future.

I am very, very happy with Barron's development, but he is no...PLD.

Wait...did I just say that?? :oops::eek3:

Fwiw, Barron and Names are basically scoring at the same pace and their linemates have been a bit different. I don't think Barron is a 2C, but neither is Names. Might be a fun experiment. Barron's speed would be fun to watch there.

Regardless, Barron should be the 4C when the team is fully healthy. Have Tanev and Appleton as his wingers. He's earned the long look.

I wouldn't say its impossible and I wouldn't mind him getting a look in TC, but I think it is unlikely. 2 nice goals in b2b games is leading to too much excitement. He's had chances in 253 NHL games and hasn't shown that much skill until these 2 games.
