My daughter's is in her late 20s, so I am very aware of the online attention-seeking in this demographic. Fortunately, my daughter is focused on other causes, but if you are a young single woman living in a new city and seeking male attention, this is one place to go. And Inanna got a lot of attention--way too much IMO--from (visible) likes to PMs (invisible, but I'm presuming). Her writing style and wit were consistent with someone with a literature degree and I never cared enough to fact-check, since I saw right away that there was a lot of inventiveness in her story-telling. So what--is lying about your family details worse than some of the other liberties posters take with other posters on this anonymous board? This is partly a fantasy world and people are gonna make stuff up.

As for "Stumbly", again, I found his persona interesting and plausible. He took flack for some of his politically incorrect statements about hot women, but this is very common in his (late 70s/80s) demographic. I didn't totally get his behaviour, but he seemed almost too naive and vulnerable to phishing, so I don't know how his character could have added to any nefarious multi-character plot.

Look, if this was all a scam to get money from gullible men, it wouldn't be a surprise in the least. But this board rushes to judgement all too often and has really pounced on this one. If Inanna and Stumbledore disappear forever then the harshest of judgements will rule. But keep in mind that public shaming by your community is kryptonite for lots of young people and that is also a reason to leave Dodge and never come back.

I agree with alot of what you are saying but nobody knows who those 2 or 1 person is, they aren't using their real first or last name so how are they publicly shamed in this case? All i know is if that was me i would be still on here defending myself because i want to be here. The fact neither one posted a single thing in defense of themselves is a little weird , especially when neither one ever really held back their feelings about other people's posts.The whole thing is just a little weird to me.

Feels like once every 3-4 years we have a web of lies exposed on HF.

One of the first ones I remember was about 15 years ago, dude - Finnerican was his handle, or something like that - claimed to know and played with a bunch of up and coming Finnish players. Had some really weird Stan-ish posts about a few prospects in particular, most notably Teemu Pulkkinen. Also had some “cool neighbours” in Chicago that hooked him up with a bunch of signed jerseys.

His stories always sounded far fetched to me, but they fell apart when an HF sleuth noticed that his picture of signed jerseys matched up with some random picture that he no doubt pulled from Google images. There are probably a few people here that remember the facts better than I do.

I disagree with this. Omitting things (which I'd assume 99% of us here do) is not the same as baiting people (for whatever reason) with false info and identities.

Disappearing after being called out instead of explaining yourself is also what you do if you're lying.

Not sure but i can't remember the last time we had a PP over 30% especially this far into a season. Now part of remaining that high is we DON'T GET ANY PP's ANYMORE DAMNIT !! Probably a mandate from up high in the NHL because they are sick of having to see Winnipeg Jets at the top of the standings .

Or maybe other teams are taking care to not give us the PPs?

Its working like it is intended. Its discouraging opponents from engaging in illegal behaviours.

I also added a few observations once that was pointed out, and also pointed out that the Stumbledore account used to be Silver Moose.

Basically concluded they're likely not real posters. Neither account has posted since.



I don't want to reveal too many details, just in case. I will say it was an unsophisticated phishing attempt that almost anyone could see it for what it was. Hence why I stated it might be related, but maybe not. It could just be a coincidence.

Figured it might be helpful to make everyone here aware of it, so if over the next little while if they receive an unusual message, email, social media interaction, etc. to be cautious.

What is the significance of Stumbledore having previously been Silver Moose? It isn't that unusual for someone to change their username. Was there something wrong with Silver Moose?

This whole post game thread has turned into an episode of the Young and the Restless.

I had one conversation with Inanna on these boards in private. Just to encourage a woman to feel welcome on these boards, and profess respect for "her" profession. To which "she" responded that it was tough when she was seen as a "bitch" and that there were many other women on this board, in secret, because women may want to conceal their identity if they want to divert attention. And a few details about "her" career.

It wasn't an exciting exchange. But the whole science experiment is an interesting twist for a message board about hockey. Seems like a waste of time.

On an aside I have been watching the Canada-U.S series in the 1996 World Cup for entertainment. That's probably some of the dirtiest hockey ever played. I don't think the 4 Nations will ever live up to that kind of hype or intensity.

I am still pretty floored by the scam accounts of Inanna and Stumbledore. Reading back on all of their posts - they had so many posts here - and for what gain? I still don’t see the payoff for them. But thanks to you two, I’m way more aware of what I read.

I've got money on Stanley-Fleury when Fleury is fully healthy, then Stanley-Miller barring TDL moves/injuries. I'd be surprised if Arniel takes Stanley out now.

I'm all for Heinola getting more chances, but as a LD with Coghlan. Stanley-Heinola has been pretty bad as a pairing. Hopefully they work it out if that's the next games third pair.

I've been quite fascinated with this. This is really the only forum I hang at and I don't do stuff like social media or Reddit so I just have always assumed that I'm dealing with real people and not scammers. Their motivation as to why they did this is a mystery but if you look at the post histories, they've been feeding off of each other since the start. Bizarre stuff.

She joined in Aug 22. Kept it up for 2.5 years. Stumbledore's account goes back to Jan 1, 2018!

Well, not so much the name change as it was a year and a half between the last post under Silver Moose in late 2020 to the next post ad Stumbledore in early 2022. Also posting heavily in the Coyotes board only to switch to the Jets board is pretty sketchy IMO.

If you're a fan of a team, why switch suddenly? 2022 Arizona still had a team.

Also, 5 months after Stumbledore's sudden return to Inanna's first post might be coincidental.

It's just suspicious enough to warrant scrutiny.

I'm going to bow out of the Inanna/Stumbledore discussion, as I find it tiring. It happened, it's done, so I'm going to focus more on the Jets talk.

I like the sound of the lineup in practice today. The forward lines look interesting. Lowry being the 2C last game seemed to give Ehlers a bump in play. I'm interested if that was what the second line needs to make us a threat come playoffs.
