Backpacking Antarctica

An acquaintance of mine, Zaide, is looking to backpack Antarctica in the near future and is looking for advice from anyone who has done so in the past!

Any tips for accommodations, things to do, and places to avoid are very welcome and will be much appreciated.

I'm there now. My advice, don't bother. Much more enjoyable time watching one of the many movies on Antarctica then actually coming here. I recommend Eight Below or The Pebble And The Penguin.

I would say get the highest SPF you can because the ozone has a hole in it in that part of the world.
