OT: Back On The Air

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.
    • Our 2025 light and dark themes were lost, so we are rebuilding them. Light theme is currently available, but work in progress

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

In the meantime, feel free to join our Discord Server
I used the "Contact us" button at the bottom of the screen to report the situation and they responded immediately - and were most generous in their response.
Yes, anybody who is a sponsor and is no longer listed as a sponsor like I was, should send a copy of their receipt via the "Contact Us" link at the bottom of the page. Title it "Sponsor" and explain the situation. I did that, and they corrected it within minutes... :thumbu:

When we were in LA last year we went to the fairly famous In and Out burger place. They have a huge window where you can watch them cut and make the fries so i thought they would be good, they were awful, like day old McDonald's fries.

I used to make a lot of fries here at home.
Changed it up to wedges with dip and enjoy them more.
Trying to get away from deep fried food.
Been sick with pneumonia the last 10 or so days and dropped just over 10 lbs. Would like to keep it off.

I forgot to say. The doc wasn't too impressed when I told him I was taking 1.5 ml of prednosolone ( my cat's) daily since getting sick.
Then, he prescribed me prednosone!

I know this forum isn't for politics feel free to delete. I just saw on TV part of the ceasefire between rus Ukraine Putin asked for NHL vs KHL games to be held in America and Russia.. how crazy is that. Putin' hockey on the map

Their coffee is actually very good.
I'll never forget going to Mc D's for a coffee, and as I am waiting for mine the staff are talking about the film in their coffee and how to get rid of it. And they actually served me the coffee and made me pay for it. Which I obviously threw out. Since then I've been skeptical. Don't know how many people on my work crew got sick from fast food last year but it was more often than once or twice. Fast food is a gamble. The drive-thru lineups in the North End during Covid with all that Gov't money, and people crammed into tiny spaces for convenience really made me wonder what's going on?

Film in coffee is probably just coffee oil, which isn't really a health issue.

Chains probably do a better job in terms of keeping things up to code than some independent restaurants. McD's certainly has a process...and the money to deep clean or eliminate a bug or rodent problem if that should happen. It's pretty bad for their worldwide rep they pay $300M/year to burnish if they start giving people E. coli.
