OT: Back On The Air

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.
    • Our 2025 light and dark themes were lost, so we are rebuilding them. Light theme is currently available, but work in progress

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

In the meantime, feel free to join our Discord Server
Yeah, I've been pretty frustrated with HFBoards. I finally was able to login on my laptop on Wednesday and then they shut the site down again? Why couldn't they have waiting until the summer to do this? :dunno:
This exactly, doing it during the last 20 games of the regular season is really dumb. Do it in August, makes way more sense to me.

Might be wrong but it seems that is was maintenance that went terribly wrong.
My understanding is that they upgraded the software for the web site and it did not take well, as you suggested. When they tried to fix it, things did not go well, and when they tried to reboot it, that's when the real problems started. As I have said, things were fine until they started tinkering with it, kind of like Windows. Should have waited until the summer when it would have been less impactful. But as they say, hindsight is 20/20...:dunno:

On a positive note the site seems to navigate faster, maybe it's just me. Not having any reliable back ups in place was a giant fail

Sounds a bit like a scene from a movie I saw once…

That didn’t end so well.

Normally I wouldn’t complain too much but I’m paying for this site. Was this blackout planned or accidental?

If it’s planned, how about doing this stuff in August??
I can’t imagine paying for this and having to deal with this amateurish crap…I’d be stopping my next payment.

Agree 100% on doing this stuff during the offseason…considering the amount of traffic this site gets and the fact it’s hockey related, you’d think someone in an office somewhere would grow enough of a brain cell to realize that updates should be scheduled for the time period between July 10th and August 30th every year so if things like this happen, they don’t risk alienating and losing users and subscribers.
Maybe it’s time someone start building an alternate option to this site in case one of these times they can’t recover the data…if I had any clue how to, I’d be working on it already

Well the pop up adds of some girl trying to increase her cleavage with some type of tank top have gone away. Not sure if that’s a good or bad thing?

Glad to see it all up and running again.

I enjoyed having a peaceful day of not listening to anyone bitch about Stanley (or anything else related to the top team in the NHL). We should have these outages more often

Stanley really sucks while festering in the press box.
