Don't mock our captain next time. Karma's a bitch.

Was at the game live with my partner, managed to grab Sportsnet lounge seats for only $100 in total. Free drinks and food made us happy campers.
Gotta give major props to Stecher and Perry for their fights in the 3rd as it energized the arena and the team too imo. Refs were hot garbage and to this day, there's still no exact clarity on what goalie interference is or not. Such bush league from the garbage NHL. LOL at f***ing flyer fans whining about McDavid in OT when Sanheim was more of a culprit with that pathetic dive of his. 7 powerplays including a 5 on 3, and 1 goal called back = flyer fans complaining about the refs is just peak comical to see. Glad we won. On to the next.

So you dislike the player then?

Damn Drai for getting paid what almost any team in league would want to pay him.

Any player that gets targeted as much as this including Mackinnon ends up reacting, blowing gaskets etc. Neither you or I comprehend anything close to the pressure these players face. Even Mess would take bad penalties and go over the edge and its the mercurial fire in a player like that which is the double edged sword you either accept or not.

With Drai you take the good and the bad. The imperfection of being human if you will.

Drai will get better, as he always does, and a lot of people will be saying again to stop them when they start shitting on Drai again. just saying

Are you really supporting our media over Drai. C'mon.
Mess was a leader, through and through, dude was the kind of player kids like me at the time wanted to play line.

Again, Draisaitl is an incredible hockey player, but he invites this criticism on himself.

Your criticism apparently. No player is perfect, never seen one that is.

I agree that Drai lets things get the best of him at times. I understand why.

Earlier you were citing the media as an indication that Drai "brings this on himself" One of my favorite former players was Glenn Anderson who singularly despised the media and obviously I'm the same way. I wouldn't be as pleasant as Drai,

Do my eyes deceive me? Secondary scoring that wasn't generated by McDavid or Drai?

But seriously the third line looks promising, even with the top 6 struggling. Henrique-Brown is a solid defensive combo and Henrique-Skinner seem like they work well together offensively.

The only downside is that does push Podkolzin (and/or Perry) into the top 6, which is less than ideal, though I do like his energy. Though it's not like cheap middle 6 wings are difficult to find, plus Kane would also fit that hole.

Stecher also shows you the archetype you need with Nurse. Someone who's quick, has decent anticipation., and a willingness to make the puck. Doesn't need to be a world beater, just a right handed Kulak would be enough.

I also really like the look of that third line- I would try to keep it together for a bit even if that means we have less of a loafed top 6 and more of a top 9. I do hope they re-split up McDrai for balance sake as I don’t have much faith in a RNH-led line. However if they are insistent on it I would try in the short term putting Podkolzin with McDrai and then run a line of Arvidsson-RNH-Hyman. Allow the wingers to dig out pucks and create space for Nuge to make some plays.

Hope that game was a turning point. Finally pushed through a truck load of trash piled in front of them (some of our own trash included of course). Took a little face punching for the team to finally wake up, but key guys did finally wake up for the first time this season.

Stecher gets Nurse babysitter duty going forward. And try Skinner with McDavid asap

How was the food. Not a bad price. Sometimes those just go up on firesale prices.

Yeah, its pretty pathetic taking a dive falling into the corner on 3 on 3 OT. Torts has a lot of work to do with that club. Was basically a 3-0 in OT. PLayers not being in moment at all. Sanheim crying in corner, another Flyer slips on a banana peel and the one guy back flies behind he net for some reason. Kind of hilarious, Drai punishes. Of course Flyers have to see it another way despite geting benefit of oficiating all bloody night.

Flyers post didn't age well. Did they post up about their third period collapse or their OT? Truly is one of the dick orgs in NHL and always has been. LOL at all the troll Flyers jerseys in Rogers Place. I swear some of these mooks have an OOT Jersey on, any one, in different games. One guy I recognized has worn 3 diff opponent jerseys. Gig is up ya troll. lol

Man... Leon looks like he's about to cry in the post game interview...
He probably looked at Matheson and thought about what aging is like.

Wait, what?

I laughed after seeing the highlight of the “trip” before the OT goal. Dude just goes stiff and just tips over forward for no reason at all. Probably some regret when he realizes how quick he was going towards the boards but I’m sure he was perfectly fine.

I think he can keep his head above water as a 3RD. 2:44 PK minutes last night in a close game - mind you one with too many penalties including a 5 min and other d penalties that maybe stretched his PK time on ice.

Emberson was always going to be a work in progress. There's a one year runway history with the coach. He's going to get runway to stabilize his game as a 3RD. With his cheap expiring contract and right handedness he would be a waiver wire risk unlike Brown and Stetcher with term deals.

Four games is too soon to make reactive decisions on this player. Especially when the team's issues are across the line-up and all facets of the game. Last night's deployment and support PK work is a positive.
If thats the case why on earth did they start him (a player with approx 30 games of NHL experience) as a 2nd pairing D with a player (Nurse) who doesnt have the ability to mentor?
The fact that he was their go to option to start the season says a lot. The reality is that this team is grasping at straws trying to find a #4 RHD 4 games into the season.
Such an important role and they have no realistic solutions available to them at all.
How many years does this have team have to contend with a deficit at #4 RHD before it actually gets addressed?
This is inexcusable for a contending team.

Here is the magic though. Who can we even blame?? Jackson didn’t want to be GM. Holland is counting stacks of cash. Bowman just got here. Bobby Nicks is invisible.

I think the oilers org worked this all out perfectly. Not perfect for winning a cup. Just for how they can avoid blame from Katz

This is primarily on Holland but Jackson knew the drill. He has been here for more than a year now and it was in his control what the GM position was going to look like once Hollands contract ran out.
As the CEO of Hockey Operations he surely knew what the team needed to prioritize on the roster.
IMO Jackson has to own a fair share of the blame for this issue as well.

Agree, mainly Kenny, but he gets to move on. Last season was THE YEAR to try to fix the RHD. We probably win the cup if we do it. Canucks series is way easier, so much damage avoided that caught up to us in the finals. Really sucks. Now actual cap hell starts.

I have to give Jackson some credit. Coach change, mental health for Skinner. Also huge reasons we got to see that run. But, wasn't enough and that RHD spot is just gonna keep kicking us in the nuts. Holland ignored that #2RHD spot for many years.

So I just watched the highlights to that game and hilariously, we easily could of lost that game. Man our defense is bad and the 2nd Flyers goal was a muffin that can't go in. I won't talk to much about the ridiculous disallowed goal call because it will just make me angry.

Stetcher needs to play the rest of the year. It would be criminal to scratch him at this point. Seems like I was wrong bout Corey Perry so far this year. He's been one of our better players tbh.

I'm really glad Kris told him to sit down and shut up. Has any Oilers coach in the McDrai era benched one of the stars when they play bad? Leon's production may be fine so far but the rest of his play along with discipline has just been absolute s***! Leon got a fire under his butt and then gets the OT winner. That is good coaching.

Indeed, Knob may be "soft-spoken" but it doesn't mean he doesn't have cajones

Hahaha, I mean I did propose to her like 2 months ago :). I'm gonna buy her a Bouchard jersey for Christmas. She's gonna buy me a Janmark jersey tomorrow.

Food was fine, no real issues. Just glad I didn't have to fork more money for it. 5 pops, a popcorn, steak, etc would've prob cost me over $200 in normal concession. Wallet and stomach = happy. Was a good experience there. Would definitely go back to it for a future game in a heart beat.

What makes this even more of an issue is the the so called #3 dman on this team is a $9.25M dman that needs a babysitter.
The 2nd pairing is a critical piece to any teams success and on this team its a hot mess.

My food experience at Rogers Place is screw these high prices, I'm not playing. heh. We have had a plate of food here and there from some of the corollary venders. I think pre or post drink/eating is a necessity given high prices of Arena food. 8bucks for a pop. You kidding me, whats in it?

Does this Popcorn have viagra? Or Rebelsus?

I wouldn't even know where to start with the convo, but I still really think someone needs to grow a pair in this org and have a talk with Nurse about him moving on. It's hard, he has his bros, but nothing in hockey is more embarrassing than wasting the career of a generational talent. That's what Katz and all these turds in management will be remembered for unless they go hard at every possible option to improve this team.

Yeah, we went to the first preseason game. Went to one of those drink vendors standing by themselves to get a sprite. A 500ml bottle cost about $8-9 + tipped an extra $1ish so it was $10.00. Partner and I cherished the sprite like it was the best sprite on earth haha. Always makes sense to get food/drinks to consume before and after the game because the prices have only increased every year for the foods/beverages at the game itself.

I couldnt agree more.
Does this team care more about feeelings or does it care more about winning?
Enough of pissing away what amounts to an opportunity which may not be available again in this organizations history.
Make some tough decisions Jackson and company.

Talking with nurse about moving on is going to accomplish nothing.

Even if he wanted to move on, no one’s trading for him

That convo wouldn’t be hard, it would be stupid and pointless though.

Messier would be suspended 50 games a year if he played in this current day with his “leadership” style.
Gordie Howe too. You bring up a good point and its that todays superstars not only don't get enforcers, they are not even being allowed to push back or take any infractions further to defending themselves. Its increasingly a no win position for stars.

Gretz never had to contend with the stuff McDrai are made to absorb daily. No protection anymore from league or enforcers.

It would also for sure get back to McDavid which would be stupid. Once McDavid is signed and locked in, then you consider this.

Besides, Nurse looks a lot freaking better with Stetcher. Dermott and Emberson got favored because Knoblaugh was familiar with them, not a great reason.

Stetcher is a +5 in 9 games played for the Oilers, the answer to who should play as the no.4 is probably staring you right back in the face.
