Something has changed in him. Last half of last year and so far this year, he doesn't seem like quite the same hockey nerd he used to be. Does the change coincide with the breakup with his GF? Something else? There seems to have been an attitude shift.

I recall an interviewer asking him a question post game and he answered “ I know I was living it” it came across kind of snotty but he didn’t sound snotty if that makes any sense.

That was last season btw

Not a great game to be sure, but no reason for panic yet.

We are 2-5-1 in our last 8 games. Hellebuyck is .883 over that period. The 9th game back was the one where Helle relieved Bro for 2 shots and gave up the only goal against of that game. That knocks him down to .880 in his last 8 appearances over the last 9 games. Brossoit was .897 over those 9 games in 3 appearances. That is .884 combined.

Goaltending was saving us for the first 31 games and it has been sinking us for the last 8. When is it time to panic?

This team has some issues but we are missing too many players right now , other than maybe Harkins all 5 of the hurt players are better than what's playing in their place right now . That's 5 guys , a entire line and 2 defenseman , how could that not effect ANY team in the league ?

The problem was visible several times last year, like at exit interview time. How many times have we seen that shocked 'who me' look on his face this year? That was quite an argument he had with the ref last night. I was beginning to think he was going to get a penalty until the ref skated away. He is on pace for a career year in PIMs. Not an extremely high number, but way more than normal for him.

On the bright side, the PP had a different feel to it. Now make it feel even more different (Ehlers) and we might be on to something.

It might be also a good time to abandon the Connor-PK thing.

We used to win with one line and the PP (and Helle) and now the PP can't score to save their life (but again, this was a step forward). Good thing is that this can be improved theoretically.

PP was dangerous last night. Came very close often.
But the PK is the real problem. It has looked good for parts of a penalty. How often have we given up the goal in the last 20-30 seconds of the penalty? But the bottom line is that we give up way too many PP goals.

Literally never. Panic is the worst response you can have in any situation.

Getting Copp and Little back would definitely help in the PK but Buff not there clearing the front of the net and having the strength to tie guys sticks up hurts even more .

Oh........funny stuff

Yes, I found it very funny that you didn't have a clue what the definition of the word "inconsistent" was when you posted this:

Inconsistent this season?

wtf? You can’t be serious? He’s played poorly of late, otherwise he’s been outstanding.

so I responded with this:

While I think Helleybuck has been the least of their problems this season, this is the definition of inconsistency:

He’s played poorly of late, otherwise he’s been outstanding.

You responded with jibber jabber:

Then by that definition, you can pretty much throw that label on every player in the league.

It’s absurd to call .923 over 32 games inconsistent when evaluating a goaltender in hockey.

Then I had to explain it to you:

It was a joke...

Collins dictionary definition of "inconsistent":

"Someone or something that is inconsistent does not stay the same, being sometimes good and sometimes bad."

I can act like a .... too
