Supposedly he was told he wasn't guaranteed any games. Apparently he just wants to be around the team to start working out with the guys and shadowing them. Which isn't a bad thing, a guy eager to be around the team and coaches, so that he can learn directly from them.

The fact that he's 215 now (put on 17 pounds) is going to definitely help him out. A friend who watches him regularly said he scores a lot of goals the same way Monahan did (in the sense of he just found open space where no one seemed to notice him there until he was shooting),

Yeah. It would have been an ATO and he wouldn't have been able to burn a year of his ELC. Conroy said Aydar told them exactly what he wanted to get him signed now. In theory he can still get demoted, but he wouldn't be playoff eligible.
