AWD -goals

I noticed Tage Thompson scored tonight against Carolina an AWD goal, which is basically scoring a goal without scoring a goal.

Do we have some kind of history stats of these? Like, all-time leaders, how many there have been by season-basis, anything similar? I feel these are rare, but nothing like "goals scored by a goalie"-rare.

Probably not if that label is new. I used to be under the impression (perhaps incorrectly) that awarded goals had the assists wiped. But even that isn't nearly enough of an indicator.

Maybe @morehockeystats or even @Doctor No has a sense of the shape of this type of data...

What kind of goal is AWD and not an empty netter?

Edit. Answering to myself: For example a goal where defensive player moves the net before puck goes into the net.

Most of my data is just a list of anecdotes; fortunately, @pnep is amazing as well.

I imagine data before 2008 would be extremely thin, but last year 8000 goals or so, so 4-5 time a year can give some idea of the rarity.

If teams got more aggressive with goaltender removal, maybe they got more common too.
