Blackwood now top 5 in the league in save percentage.

.917 overall. .911 with San Jose, .940 with Colorado.

He really wasn't, though. You just hate the guy and it's been like that for a while now.

Manson made one mistake in the 3rd period that I recall with a giveaway/turnover.

He was physical all game, kept the puck in their zone, distributed the puck well, was a presence the entire game. He had an unreal backdoor pass to Kelly from the blueline who somehow missed the net altogether, you even refer to it in your post but give no credit to the pass that created the opportunity.

I don't know, man. Either you evaluate your D on some whole other criteria and that's totally fine, or you have a general disdain for him. You didn't want him extended, call it the worst mistake we've made, and just bash him every single game.

I know that, as a goaltender, he's the type of guy I want in front of me on a nightly basis. As an opposing forward, I'd imagine he's the last guy on the Avs blueline you want to consistently go up against as well. We don't have anybody else like him.

I'd hate to read what you say about him when he ACTUALLY has a bad game...

I’ll admit I do have a bias against him because he’s (mostly) frustrating to watch. I’ll admit I may have gotten this one wrong last night but I’m not the only one by a long shot to be calling out his play this year prior to the injury.

It is nice that he’s a big boy who can move well and isn’t allergic to the puck but I do wish he’d simplify his game. I’ll just leave it at that.

I hope Mitts turns it around, but if he continues to struggle nearing the trade deadline, should CMac do something about it? I mean we can’t go to playoffs without a 2C that produces. We won’t go far
Its fair to ask that but Mitts did have a good playoffs last season. I personally dont think they will trade him but man is it starting to reach levels of brutal right now for him.

I think when all is said is done, Nathan MacKinnon will be considered the greatest Avalanche of all time. The man is on another level right now.
Will be hard to catch and surpass Sakic. Barring injuries, Nate will get to 1000 points this year. He just needs 41 more points. Sakic has 1,641 career points, so Nate who will be 30 next year, will have to have 6 more 100 point seasons to catch Sakic. It’s not impossible, but will be hard to do.

However Sakic played for Nordiques and Avs, so if we only go by Avs career, Nate can very well pass Joe as the highest scoring Avalanche, but that’s not even fair to Sakic because he spent 7 seasons in Quebec, so you can’t really say Nate is better than Sakic unless he passes him in career points

The sample size is big enough now to know that it's on the coach. He wants his dmen to skate with the puck and join the rush, it's part of the (only) gameplan.

Guys that play 7 min a night get a pass but all the others have to play like this regardless of their skillset.

Purely speculating, but either Mitts mind is in need of care, or he has a nagging physical problem like a 'tennis elbow' which does not exactly put you away but very much puts your effort down. He must be nursing something.
One of the things I'm trying to constantly remind myself is that the NHL and the Avalanche in particular are very hush, hush when it comes to injuries. And I get the reasoning to a degree. But it sucks for fans who all of sudden think one of their players has become a complete dum-dum when it's really not the case.

I'm gonna give a shout-out to Big Sam Malinski for his great rush up the ice and perfect pass to MacK to ignite the first goal last night. That was a big boy play- skating, hockey sense, and skill. FFS let him run PP2, neither Toews or Sammy G. can do fvck-all from the blue line.

He looked much better back on the bottom pairing. He still has some growing to do for sure but he's been solid overall this season.

Compher was a damn good middle 6 forward. Could play any position. PK and PP. Any coach would love him on their team. Very critical piece to the cup win and the Avs being a strong contender in the years before 2022.

If there's blame for him not being a perfect #2C it's management for putting him into that role instead of playing to his strength.
Excellent points........ Compher was turned into the designated goat (NOT "greatest of all time) by some of the same posters who are now coming for Mitts. Somebody has to be the foil for a number of posters to this board. Now that Georgiev is gone, the new out house candidate seems to be Mittlestadt.

I'm kinda tired of the treatment folks hand out here...... like they could even sniff these guys jocks much less actually keep up with them in a drop in. Maybe even in a public skate session. LOL.

Same old Avs Board shit fest.

I mean, I get what you are saying and I try not to lay it on too thick myself. But that is fandom in general and not just this group. Everyone here is invested in this team and wants to see it succeed, as well as the players to do well.

Everyone here has a right to speak their opinion even if we don’t agree regardless of who comes close to who in talent. I’d say that if it’s effecting you that much maybe you should consider ignoring some folks for a while? I get the frustrations but it’s never going to change and to some degree it shouldn’t. Fans should be able to discuss the ups and downs of their club.
