It’s not a lack of effort. You can tell he’s doing that at least. If anything, he’s trying a little too hard.

I’ve no idea how to fix him though. Maybe convince him and MacKinnon to ditch whatever the f*** they’re trying to incorporate from Adam Oates, I don’t know.

If it’s who I think you’re referring to, in no way shape or form did he say Mitts was playing fine. Just that his underlying numbers are not as bad as the eye test would indicate. If I’m wrong then forget this post.

Yer twisting things here King. Mitts was brought here to replace Compher who the brain trust thought could replace Kadri but couldn't. The Avs have had a gapping hole at 2C ever since they decided to bring back EJ after '22.

Before Mitts it was Colton who was going to fill 2C. It's just been a shit show at 2C since 22.

Compher was a damn good middle 6 forward. Could play any position. PK and PP. Any coach would love him on their team. Very critical piece to the cup win and the Avs being a strong contender in the years before 2022.

If there's blame for him not being a perfect #2C it's management for putting him into that role instead of playing to his strength.

Colton was NEVER considered a 2C, he was simply forced into that role because Johansen sucked. And Colton definitely buckled under that workload because the 2nd half of his season was a lot worse than how he started.

So, a pretty sloppy effort. Avs even at their best struggle against teams with enough speed and good defensive structure, and they’re definitely not at their best currently.

Concerns continue to mount around Mittelstadt. No idea how they even begin to really address it because they can’t demote him. The current third line center, while a hard-working defensive forward, did his best Jeff Shantz impression at point blank range. Dude has the shot accuracy of Nick “Swaggy P” Young. Unless they try Rants at center again there’s simply no other option. None.

Blackwood stellar again though I wish to hell the Avs wouldn’t keep testing him.

Manson, as expected, was bad but I’ll cut him some slack, first game back and all.

Exciting game! Lines 1 and 3 were solid, 4th was horrible and 2nd was meh. Blackwood was stellar. Didn't like the MacK fight, because it got him away from the game and killed some momentum. Good job from Utah tho in that moment, and they absolutely had their chances to score more goals.

Reffing was atrocious starting from period 2, tho Mikko's penalty was the right call. Utah's forwards had a lot of space and time in the o-zone from time to time, but I feel like our d-core played well and in the way that the game demanded.

I had the game on mute until the last half of the 3rd, and twice after she said something my brain took a second to compute it and I audibly went "What?"

I can only imagine what the whole game was like

When they were talking about the top line before the game started I thought she meant Rantanen. Took me until his second goal before I realised Lankinen was Lehkonen. Is there nobody in production listening to broadcasts as they happen who can correct people who do this? Has nobody ever told Ray Ferraro that he doesn't say Nichushkin properly? I don't get it.
