I think they'd ideally like to build a long-term (meaning 3-4 year) AHL captain internally... problem is most of these guy suck. Aamodt is basically a smaller, better skating Clurman.

Well. I did mention in another thread I thought they’d look for overage CHL or college FA D prospects to acquire since Behrens is the only one and Clurman is only one signed thru after this year. Just kinda thought they’d set the bar higher…

Problem is they keep giving captain to their high dollar guarantee mercenaries. They need to give it to a guy like Ryan Wagner.

That definitely seems like a big part of their calculus. Especially with older prospects.

When there's less flash, they tend to lean in on intangibles. Not a bad idea IMO.
