Guess they like him as a longer term 7/8. And he must be OK with shuttling back and forth between Loveland as needed. Good situation for him to get some stability and a guaranteed 1-way.

Not that Middleton is amazing by any stretch but imagine thinking Kurtis MacDermid is better than this guy.

Need to collect all the Middles and Mittels in the league.
If the Avs could snag Kiefer Sherwood and the good Middleton they would be in pretty good shape at the deadline. Not that either of those guys would be available.
Low risk signing and a good reward for a guy who's at least a #7 tweener.

Funny how he worked out better than Justin Barron. Just goes to show Avs system works better with lower regarded prospects who are only expected to fill out bottom of the lineup roles.

I can't freaking believe Keaton Middleton became a fringe NHLer. Credit where credit is due, he has improved massively over the years.

From what I've been told, he's a guy that teammates love. Great in the room, busts his ass at practice, very receptive to coaching and advice.
For league minimum and as a 7D type guy who can play some games and provide toughness, you could do a lot worse than him.
