No player should ever take a GMs word on a “handshake deal”. They should all be told Danny Manning‘s story as the reason why you don’t do that.

Sharks got royally f***ed with Labanc because of a handshake deal. Dude deserved something like 1.5M X 1 and they had to give him 4.75M X 4. It's more dangerous for the team than the player.

I don't believe that Drouin has a handshake deal anyway. Not with Mikko's huge raise next season and the uncertainty around Nuke and Landy.
