Well, the Patty Roy trade with the Canadiens in '95 is the Gold standard in terms of instant impact and sheer star power, but the Blackwood deal is close behind.
If this version of Blackwood is the one that the Avs saw all along . . . then (assuming this keeps up) CMac fleeced the Sharks. And maybe the rest of the league as well.

Aye, I'll hold up my hand and say I was a skeptic of the trade, but Blackwood has been phenomenal. Reminds me of a stretch during the Cup season when the team was a bit off (January/ February as I recall), but Kuemper was keeping us in games or even stealing points, giving us quality start after quality start.
Psychologically, it must be huge for the players--with Georgiev literally any half-chance, quarter-chance, or eighth-chance can end up in net.

At the moment, MB is the best goalie in the league. At the moment.
Assuming Blackwood sustains this level, then the deal - compounded with the extension - is dumbfounding. In a good way. MB outdueled Shesty last night for less than half the price.

Time will tell but the Bourque and Blake trades come to mind as being better IMO.
I still think the Lindros trade is the best in Avs history. Got the better player, won us a cup and set us up with assets for a long while. Also got one of the all time great hockey faces for the Avs.

Are you referring to the trade to re-acquire Foote from Columbus for conditional picks? When he left initially he left as a free agent.

Absolutely insane run he is having right now. Best I can recall since the days of Roy. The real test will be next year. We all know our goalies of recent past have hit walls on year 2/3. But everything checks out and he passes with flying colors on tape. Love this guy already.
According to Dater that deal could've been far, far worse. It nearly cost them the pick that would've been Matt Duchene.
That was a good trade until Derek got punched out

In my opinion, the real test will be in the playoffs this year. Blackwood has exactly 0 career NHL playoff minutes to his name.
If he can carry this form into the playoffs, it will be like that year Oettinger almost single handedly beat the Flames
