So Parkilla was supposed to fix Georgiev's weaknesses of shots up top left and right, his overcommitments laterally, and his ability to read the play? So he had to improve Georgie in almost every aspect of goaltending?
Not quite.

We wanted him to fix Georgiev's "inability" to read the play.

Other than that damn straight. That's what was being asked of Parkkila. (PS...I mispell his name all the time too, but I believe it is two K's and one L).

Georgiev has only allowed 4 goals in San Jose’s last 3 games.

He only played in 1 of those games, but still.
His stats for them so far:

Oh they were well known. Just go watch the video instead of acting like he was just a head case and that's all that matters. Start with the corners over both shoulders and his overreactions in reading plays. Not to mention his rebound control being nonexistent.
Of course that’s not all that matters, I specifically said there were many. But that’s definitely the biggest one.

At some point, though, you just have to admit that maybe just maybe the guy just isn’t good enough.

IMO he's 3rd on the Vezina charts if the season ended today.

Hellebuyck and Gustavsson are having remarkable years, but I honestly do think Blackwood could catch them the way he's been playing since the trade.
Where Blackwood will struggle the most is keeping up or even catching up to Hellebuyck’s SO and record. If statistically they’re close, that’s where Hellebuyck will get the advantage.

Even though Blackwood played a bunch of games in SJ, probably half the people voting won’t even know that or won’t remember.

I'm starting to a get a special feeling about Blackwood. Like he was meant to be an Av.

What took you so long? ;)

Georgiev has allowed 20 goals against in his last 5 games with his highest save percentage being an .882

Before San Jose, he was also doing this on a team as a favorite for the Cup…

Meanwhile, has Blackwood let in more than two goals since he has come to this team? The difference between Blackwood and Georgiev is astounding. The confidence he has given the rest of the team is very noticeable and one of the best things he has brought here along with his play.

Nope. He has allowed 2 goals five times and 1 goal four times in 9 games he has played with the Avs. This could end up being another great move by CMac, signing Blackwood early to 5.25, because if he continues to play like he has so far with the Avs, he’ll be worth more.

Was Blackwood considered for team Canada? I assume he was overlooked being on the sharks and only posting average (at best) numbers last year. But with him playing the best hockey of his career, he shouldn’t just be on the team, he should be the starter. Sucks the rosters were announced when they were.
