Hell, George even closed to the post when he was on his stomach just previous.

Nah, watch it again particularly the overhead replay. He loses his net when shifting over to the right side and ended up leaving the top of the net open because he couldn't find the post to hug onto because he pushed to far to the right.

Not saying it was his all his fault or anything, obviously the guys were scrambling hard, but George definitely lost his net.
