Sure, but they punched above their weight nearly all season. Pretty damn good effort all things considered, the season I mean not this game.

One could still argue they would have been better off just sucking hard like everyone thought at the start of the season.

Yes and no. The East sucks donkey balls beyond the top 6 and they had a chance at the playoffs and all the motivation in the world with the dedication season to Gaudreau. Looks like they will blow it, so it's sad for their miserable fans.

This team has been fun since we got the goaltenders and after the trade deadline. Necas and Rants trade was critical too. Necas made us more fun to watch imo.

We played great right after we got our two new tenders. Since then, I feel like the team in front of them have been letting them down quite a bit. They've been strong enough to withstand, but the Avs have not been playing well in front of their goalies for some time.

Both are a case of bad ownership.
McConnell hitched his wagon to John Davidson, who bailed on him to go the NYR, f***ed up that organization and then came back for round 2 with the Bluejackets. What a f***ing mistake.

Buffalo has an owner who just won't allow a GM to do their job without constant meddling.

In both cases the fan bases are better off than those in Arizona were but that's not really a high bar to hurdle.
