GDT: Avs @ Hawks - 8:30PM CT - Blame TNT Wednesday Night Hockey

I’d rather see EDM in over KK. Even though KK can skate better his timidness and lack of confidence would have had him eaten alive against Colorado.

Let the kid play. He can't get better playing against the best in the world being in the press box. How does that help your confidence? Again to me this isn't a EDM vs Korchinski thing. Both guys should be playing. It's Murphy who should be sitting against a fast team like the Avs. But he's the only veteran defenseman who is worth playing at this point and I'm sure Sorensen doesn't want EDM or Kaiser playing the right side so alas.

Since Murphy wasn’t traded there really isn’t a realistic scenario in which he’s healthy scratched…. I’d have traded him at TDL, though.

Since Murphy is here I probably wouldn’t have bothered to call up KK at all if it were me.

But Sorensen has a meth like addiction when it comes to changing lines, so it’s no surprise. Such a frustrating coach.

There was clearly no plan for calling KK up, and yeah, he should still be in Rockford. KD is almost as clueless as Sorensen.

He was playing well in the AHL at the time. Probably just a solid end of the year reward. Rockford is going to finish 5th in their division, without or without Korch and Levshunov. Rotating the young guys for the final 8 games of the year is fine. It's not hurting anyone's development.

Playing a ton of AHL games, after playing tons of NHL games, then getting called up and immediately getting scratched does probably affect someone. If you can't fight through that then its probably on you at the end of the day but to say that Korchinski's development has been optimal is just a lie.

Should have just gone back to junior for his D+2... but apparently he had "nothing to learn" in the WHL.

I have no issue rotating some guys, it's not like Korch has done anything to deserve to stay in the lineup either. Players have said that just watching the game and getting a different perspective can help a lot too

Who said his development has been optimal? I've been one of the biggest proponents of Korchinski's development being scuffed by being kept up all year last year.

Maybe they wanted to confirm for sure he's the odd man out?

Feels like they're gearing up to move him in the offseason.

If they really feel like they have an absolute feel for who amongst the this group is going to be the best, none of them should have embarked on this rebuild. Korchinski is 20.

problem is the minute you have exact certainty one way or the other he's either untouchable or he has little trade value relative to the draft capital they used on him, so if they have any amount of doubt and if he has any real trade value this is the summer to make that decision, you don't get to wait until 24 to realize he's not a top 4 defensemen if you have a big need at forward and he could potentially help begin the process of fixing that problem

Yeah it really does. Davidson last offseason didn’t want to suck this badly. You just know he doesn’t want this again even worse. He’ll need a big piece to dangle and it could very well be Korch. Especially with the logjam on the backend.

The problem, truly, is that the Hawks got Bedard and with that has come so much noise about needing to speed up the rebuild that I don't think management can drown it all out. But they should and if they care about the long-term outlook of the team, they will.

Korchinski was drafted not even 3 years ago yet. He basically had a lost season forced into the NHL when he wasn't ready. If you're evaluating players on what they are at 20 or 21, you're going to miss out on a whole lot of Keiths, Sharps, Buffs, Hammers, etc. Most players aren't what they are until 23/24/25.

Pretty much everything has gone wrong for KK’s development to the point I actually feel bad for him. From only being able to play in two leagues, neither of which he should have been in, to his dad dying at a young age mid season.

Genuinely awful stuff for him that will probably cost him millions of dollars at the same time.
