GDT: Avs @ Habs

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.
    • Our 2025 light and dark themes were lost, so we are rebuilding them. Light theme is currently available, but work in progress

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

In the meantime, feel free to join our Discord Server

The bug that's going around lately is a rough one. I've been sick for a full week now and still nowhere near 100%.
My wife and I each got it around Feb 20 and it took 3 weeks -- 3 days getting sicker each day, then 1 week full-blown sick and 1.5 weeks of slowly getting better. It truly sucked. Good luck.

Kind of crazy, but how did we let these Canadians to come back in the third period. We are the contenders and Habs are a wild card spot team. How could they do so much damage to us in the 3rd period?
It’s the NHL. Anybody can beat anybody. It looked bad because we had a 4-1 lead in the 3rd, but at least we didn’t lose the game. In the past Avs would lose this game for sure. We stuck with it and got 2 points

It was butt ugly for sure. The two softies were concerning because they were due to a lack of focus. But Blackwood came back to lock it down in the SO. He was focused. The Avs basically lost their composure in the 3rd and were running around in chicken little mode. Ah well, things to talk about and sort out before the POs begin. I’d rather JB know this team’s strengths and weaknesses so he can get a handle in quickly addressing any issues. That’s why I think it’s important to have vet leadership around. We panic around here when we need to be even keeled. The good is that this team can look frighteningly good and the bad is that it can look terrifyingly able to suddenly lose all poise.

Coyle is a low key pest
It's why I've always called him such a huge PITA to play against. I am so glad we've got a rat on our side for a change. He's not as much of a lunatic as say Steve Downie, but he's still a pest and will gladly irritate others.

Blackwood: “I hate shootouts”

Ladies and gentlemen, we have our smoking gun. Mystery solved why he’s bad at them
Had to double check this. I was concerned you wrote 'shutouts' initially.

It’s funny how Bednar still mispronounces Necas’s name. He’s still calling him Ney - Kash
It's funny... because everythime he does something good, I shoe-horn his name into Victoria Williams Fryin' Pan and replace "We've got beaches" with "We've got "Necas" and make my wife's eyes roll out her damn ears.

LOL so many terribles takes on here...it's really quite pathetic...

I know some of you know how this works - this isn't your first rodeo, you've been a 'hockey fans' for several years.

What kind of Pejorative Slured crap am I reading - we need to start Wedgewood for the playoffs ELEVEN frikkin' games out????

Like Blackwood isn't allowed to have some stretches where maybe he's not as good as he usually is - LIKE EVERY OTHER f***ING PLAYER IN THIS f***ING LEAGUE - and I have to read Pejorative Slured shit like that???

Besides, right now is NOT the time to get hot and start playing extremely well because if we do then we are destined to hit a wall and have a bad stretch at the worst possible time. Five to six games prior to the start of the playoffs is when the Avs should be ramping up and getting used to playing full 60 minute games.

Personally I don't mind if Mack takes some nights off like he has the past 2-3 games as long as that means he's going to he his dominant self come playoff time. He ran out of gas the last 2 playoffs...

I only suggested that we consider starting Wedgewood in the shootout. I never suggested making him the number one. Oh, except for that stupid "There is another Wood" Yoda meme. But those were, as you very well know, shit posts made in a GDT where the Avs nearly turtled themselves out a victory in a game they were up 4-1.

I got .5 gram of the goods still left. Let's hash this out together like civilized human beings. *LOL*

For me, it’s just kind of frustrating here that people start flipping out over one game where they had a 7-8 minute stretch that wasn’t good. Yeah, they should have probably stopped the bleeding more quickly but this team is 10-1-1 in their last 12 and have played pretty well in that stretch. Every team has bad games or parts of games. Obviously there’s going to be discussions about the poor parts of their play but there’s been a lot of exaggeration tonight.

Yeah, I don't agree with completely flipping out, but this is the time of season where that shit is what has to be eliminated, so when it happens it's going to get scrutinized under a magnifying glass.

You have to eliminate those stretches as much as possible to go deep. So I can convince myself that turtling poorly, and defensive breakdowns when up by a lot do actually matter a bit more than you would think, as it's speaking to the mental fortitude of the team and they apparently checked out a bit too early and had to check back in before all was said and done.
