I have never understood why you guys wanted Mikko away from MacK on the second line.

MacK is our best forward and a playmaker. Mikko is our second best forward and a sniper.

You simply keep them together and at least consistently have one line that can overwhelm the opposition.

“Mikko has to drive his own line.” He won’t so why force it?

“Mack is good enough to play with anybody.” So we decide not to get the best out of him by taking away his sniper?

I don’t give a f*** about trying to get something out of the second line when it impacts the first line and overall makes us weaker.

I both agree and disagree.

I think we remember how Rantanen looked in the 2022 playoffs without MacKinnon and think "man, it would be great if he could drive his own line and we could overwhelm teams with two lines like we did in that run."

At the same time, I think a lot of us - myself included - also forget Rantanen was a bag of ass until game 4 of the 2nd round against the Blues and wasn't all that great against the Lightning in games 3-6, either.

Personally I think Drouin and Mittelstadt being such smart players would work tremendously together, especially since Mittelstadt has been shooting more this year, and give them one of the defensive wingers idgaf who it is.

When things get clogged up, you have to get dirty and simple. The Avs refuse to do this a lot of the time.
