Actually, the perfect acquisition for the Avs would be Brady Tkachuk if he can be pried from Ottawa. He'd replace the size lost with Rantanen and the jam lost with Landeskog.

He would be awesome but I’m not sure there’s a path to acquiring him for the Avs. Would absolutely love to have him however.

May as well say that Necas replaced Mikkos size because neither of them really use their size in the way you're implying.

Pass.

Rejected us in our Cup year to go to Florida. Was reported your Flyers accepted an Avs offer, but Giroux turned it down and had no interest in going to Denver. That was despite the Avs being 1st in the NHL, a heavy Cup favourite, and sure enough went on to win the Cup.

He can get f***ed.
That trade was so close the Avs literally had jerseys made up for him

Colorado GM said this an all in year
For sure he will use all money on cap
With Wood in lineup and Nichushkin on LTIR will give enough cap space to bring others players.
I don't think Crosby want to leave Pittsburgh but if Boston are out @ TDL Marchand can be an option
Trading Rantanen for Colorado they need to have something else on table to get this team a better team soon

It was Florida. He chose to go to the Panthers over the Avs in a trade. He signed with the Senators as a free agent a few months later.

I totally get choosing Florida over Colorado, but not as an aging vet who everybody thought wanted to win a Cup. That '22 Avs team was a juggernaut, surely he knew that was a better chance of winning a Cup than the Panthers. He went for the better weather.
no one said hockey players were smart

There’s rumors his wife preferred Florida. Also, the rumors are that he wanted Fletcher to agree to bring him back to Philly after the season, Fletcher told him no and sat on Florida as the only option….

They made the Super Bowl 4 straight years like 10 years ago, back when I was in high school.

I know Sidney Crosby isn't a spring chicken, but shouldn't it take a gross overpayment to pull him away from the only team he's ever played for?

On the otherhand, it didn't take a king's ransom to prize Bourque away from Boston

Marner is a better player in a vacuum. But they need quality depth, not star power.
That's why I low-key love the addition of Necas and Drury. They also have some capital to shop for another top 6 forward at the TDL. These days a 2nd and a 4th can get you a pretty decent winger.

If I'm Sakic, I'm asking Dubas pretty hard about Rakell. Performance, position, and contract (both term and hit) makes him a very good addition IMO. And if not Rakell, someone like him - a top 6 RW that can score who had a year or two of term left. I'm not sure selling limited futures for a rental is the best route.

Cmac has shown that he usually goes for players with term, or at least knows the ballpark asking price for potential re-signing, which I’m very grateful for.

My personal hope is more for top 4 d help than another top 6 f. Would love to add both obviously but they need to know players down the depth chart on d, badly.

I don’t think the Canucks would be willing to make that trade
They would do that the instant it's offered, I would think! Seriously, for Miller?? You get a middle-6 C right now, and a top near-NHL ready C prospect? Plus the 2.25M in cap space!

Would open up options if they decide to move EP, too. They would still want a C in return, but they wouldn't be barren at that position after dealing both...
