As mentioned on NHL Network, the Rantanen trade opened some room and supposedly Avs ain't happy with Mittelstadt's play, so centres are a big priority.

Elliotte noted that Brock Nelson is one player Avs are interested in.

Renting Nelson makes sense to me. His size and shot add some different dimensions and the cost and cap flexibility it maintains going into the future seem to fit the current MO.

I still dont believe Kyle Davidson spent the better part of a week in Denver watching the Avs play and hanging out with Chris MacFarland just do decide if he should retain 50% salary on Rantanen or not.


I think the Avs/Chicago will have another deal come down the line at some point. But its probably a question of whether its a Forward(Donato) or another blockbuster involving Jones.


But otherwise, yeah the Avs have two 2025 2nd round picks right now and we hate 2nd rounders, so I'd bet both of those get moved in the next month.

Couturier is damn near a negative value player given his output, age, health history, and contract. He's bolted to the Flyers until he retires.

Necas is going to get every opportunity to be that missing 2C. They may not do it the first game or two, just to get his feet wet, but he’s been pretty open about wanting to play C and now he’s been traded to a team with that opening.

His ask was in double digits for a long term deal before this season and as RFA and before he broke out…
As an UFA and his current production and the rising cap he will ask for more than Avs offered Rantanen.

Ya who wouldn't want a guy capable of 100/40 Centre capable of shutting down top lines? Millers worse season since joining Vancouver is still better than any season Necas has ever had.
I'd love to see a pole from all GM's who they prefer for the playoffs, I'd bet JT wins in a landslide.

Why would Colorado trade for Jones? Are they moving on from Josh Manson? If there was a trade you'd think those 2 would be the pieces.

Jason Dickinson seems like a guy the Avs would target. Parker Kelly is miscast as top 9 center, and the Avs just traded their best faceoff guy, while getting one decent one back.
