Nice to have you back, bud. You’ve been missed.Happy New Year HFJets board ..
Hello all - just want to drop a quick note - all rumours of my demise are overstated and I am back soon to spread the shapen word among all of ye coelacanths large and small.
Despite the setback in the dank and sullen halls of Denver, the Jets are having a killer year, whot?
As an semi-attendant actor on this season's stage
Who with his year has cheered his less publicized part,
Or some fierce thing replete with too much rage,
Whose strength's abundance strengthen'd the Jets own heart.
So I, for fear of trust, forget to say
The perfect ceremony of a 27 win (to date) rite,
And in mine own team's strength detect no decay,
O'ercharged with burden of mine own inputs' might.
O, learn to read what mine silent love hath writ:
To express again with mine own paltry wit.
(apologies as always to the Shakester)
Back soon,
- k
Game was tied and evenly played going into the 3rd, Avs took over then.how was it weird? the middle six gave us nothing and haven't been giving us much for a while now
both lines were doing nothing and switching ehlers/iaffalo wasn't the reason we ran out of gas in the 3rdGame was tied and evenly played going into the 3rd, Avs took over then.
Could be that it wasn't, doesn't change my belief that it was a weird time to tinker.both lines were doing nothing and switching ehlers/iaffalo wasn't the reason we ran out of gas in the 3rd
Nice to see you back @kanadalainen except now i have to start googling words again that i don't know. Hope everything is good.Happy New Year HFJets board ..

@Jets 31 all is very well indeed! Just taking a sabbatical from the scabrous landscape which lists itself as social media.Nice to see you back @kanadalainen except now i have to start googling words again that i don't know. Hope everything is good.
Don't blame you one bit , this is the only platform i'm on .@Jets 31 all is very well indeed! Just taking a sabbatical from the scabrous landscape which lists itself as social media.
Even though we are 1-1 with Colorado they are way better and we have no way of ever beating them.Sometimes I wonder about some of these posts if they actually watched the game?
Comrie did not lose the game Helle would not have made a difference ... 2 deflections and Toews goal was weird. He whiffed on the shot and just slides it in at the end.
MacKinnon 2 games vs Jets and only has an empty net assist ... this is the leading scorer in the NHL.
Vilardi stick breaks which results in the Avs GWG in the 3rd period ... s**t happens. Connor got 2 great chances to tied the game with the goalie pulled.
Avs have a great team and the Jets were right there until the end ... relax you can't win them all.
This is 3 games now that the Jets lost where they played a good team who has a few days off while the Jets play a couple of games ... nice disadvantage. It's not an excuse every team goes through a tough schedule heck the Avs lost to the Hawks 5-2 playing on a B2B.
Wow .... Avs 17 empty goals already this year.
We owned them last regular season which made the playoff early exit sooooooo frustrating.Even though we are 1-1 with Colorado they are way better and we have no way of ever beating them.
Ya no blame on Vlad. Clearly the injury has limited his ability to take faceoffs, but also to take passes and shoot. Hopefully he heals quickly.
Not a bad game, all things considered. Bit of a mushy lineup which you get this time of year with injuries.
I wonder what moves can and will be made by the trade deadline. As far as speed, we would need to add size and speed to the 2nd line, and on D. With guys like Lambert and Salomonsson on the way, team speed will continue to increase. Would be nice to add another 1-2 players like that before they arrive, and then I think team speed wouldn't be an issue at all, against teams like Colorado.
It's difficult to increase team speed, if guys like Perfetti, Vilardi, Pionk and Stanley play big minutes. It is what it is. The rest of the players play with much more speed relatively speaking.

I’d think Colorado’s size would be more a problem. After all berg and Fleury come in they are a lot faster team, but, much less physical.
Only way to counter that speed is schief stop whiffing on shots. If they net their chances it helps cancel out Colorado’s speed somewhat.
Berg makes top 4 faster. Not sure how else you cancel out the speed factor except finishing on shots.
If ehlers plays on lowry’s line it opens up a spot for a skilled guy like chib or lambert on line.
He had a great first 2 periods. It was his play that separated the man from puck on our 1st and his pass on the 2nd.
Heinola would have got dominated by the size of Rantanen, MacKinnon who all play physical.
Stan also laid out 2 guys with buff like hits.
I mean Nuck, MacKinnon, ratanen, Lehkonen are known for playing physical games as much as their putting up points. When people talk bout size I’d think they are talking bout physicality not height. They have 1 big guy, Middleton. He is a month shy of 27 YO and has accumulated 13 NHL games, so more of an AHL player than NHL. Looking at who is on the rosters right now Avs have 6 guys 6'2 or taller, not counting goalies. Jets have 10. They have 6 guys under 6'. Jets have 1. I don't think size should be an issue.
There are a bunch of guys in their bottom 6 and 3rd pair I'm not familiar with but I'd say that with the lineup they have now with their injuries, they are not particularly fast either. They have several fast players. So do Jets.
Unfortunately we are on a b2b again next time we meet them but at least we are at home for that one. And we will have been home for a while with two 2 day breaks between games right before that. I expect a better game from the Jets then.
Yep, surprised Lehkenon was able to still get a stick in that. Not sure where players are supposed to stand so not to screen, but, still battle in front and block shots. He also screened Comrie on their 1st while clearing an Avs player from in front of the net. He did move the guy quite forcefully though, FWIW.
But all in all I think he had a pretty good game. At least good enough that he was not why we lost. The whole team was outskated except for a few little bursts of energy.
