I'm not concerned at all. We played a well rested Avs team in their building without our best player (Helle) and we didn't look out of place at all.

Who knows what would have happened if Vilardi's stick had not broken right before their 3rd goal.

The Jets have been a positive part of my life so far this season and I'm loving every single minute of it. I'm excited to see what the playoffs will bring us.

Ran out of gas in the third but I thought the effort was there on a back to back. It is what it is.

I cannot overstate how much it pissed me off to have Sawyer yapping about how the puck left the zone on that 2nd Avalanche goal. I hate how confidently wrong he can be. Sometimes you just need to shut the hell up, dude.

I am genuinely curious about what happened on that play. We're missing something because the Jets bench wasn't up in arms and didn't challenge.

There's someone who is actually paid to watch that. If none of the players, coaches, or that guy raised a flag, what are we missing?

I still like Heinola over Stanley from a puck moving perspective. I wonder what Chevy has in mind at the deadline

Why though? Are we living of the legend of Villes puck moving expertise?

Moving the puck has actually been Stanley's strength, and he was directly involved in both of the Jets goals last night.

The sheer refusal to be objective about Stanley is comical.

Had high hopes for Ville, maybe bought some of the hype but as of today he can't supplant Stanley and that in it's self says a lot. Maybe next year maybe never

My observations in no particular order:

*impressed with the Jets puck management and team defense.
*not convinced the top line won't get dominated in a playoff matchup. I'd like a faster, more defensive-minded winger with 55 and 81.
*Perfetti needs to move down to 4th line.
*NIdereiter too slow.
*Barron and Kupari need more minutes. We'd be better with them flanking 17.
*need a bigger, experienced D to play big minutes with 44.

I just caught the third period and was hoping for at least one point. C'est la vie. The Jets looked a little bagged towards the end but that would be not unexpected given the circumstances....rested Avs team on their own "turf", played the day before, late flight to Denver and, a big one in my opinion, coming from Winnipeg at ~780 feet ASL to Denver at around 5280 feet ASL. As someone who used to run cross-country, there is a reason that a lot of athletes, runners in particular, train at high altitude. The boys put in a noble effort last night.

Names wasn't taking faceoffs from what I could tell, maybe injured from that shot block last game. He really isn't a shooter but he absolutely couldn't shoot last night. Maybe put Lambert in for the time being.

Miller played a spirited game. Coghlan looked ok for a guy with almost no games.

I liked Ehlers out there with Lowry's line. Definitely added more speed. It opens up a spot for Chibrikov if Scotty ever takes that route.

I doubt they move Heinola at the tdl and if Stan can keep up this play plus berg and fleury we are set for Ld. Now big weakness is just replacing names with a better 2c.

Interesting Stan had a great game against a fast team as that was used as the big bogey man.

So, woke up this morning to the Jets being in first place. Still. They've been in first after 28 of the 39 games they've played so far. It never gets old.

We've just won 4 out of our last 5. And we were tied with 10 minutes left in that loss. Which was on a B2B after a late flight. Forget the 5-2 score, this was a 3-2 game and we were in it almost to the end. (Don't know why coaches pull their goalie in a 4-2 game with 30 seconds left. Makes no sense to me.)

This team is incredible. We're going deep in the playoffs. Book it.

Vegas … total was 6.5 goals.

The boys tried hard and played pretty decent.
Weaker competition would have caved but Colorado is not that.
Scheifele has played well the last two games but I think he has about 5 whiffs/muffed shuts/misfires on one timers in those games. A couple of those looked like for sure goals had he hit the puck.

Some really random falls at bad times and passing the puck to Vilardi's side of the ice when he didn't have a stick really bit us in the butt.

Weird that you pick out Perfetti to move to the 4th. Was the best player on the second line last night. Was 80% on draws, had two blocks and 4 hits. The last 15 games he has played very well in all areas and the growth of his game is evident every night.

Agreed, he's also converting back to center and there will be growing pains with that. But I feel he's far more equipped for it now and he's largely looked good. Imo Namestnikov who's clearly playing hurt has been the weak link on that line. I don't really blame him though as he's trying to soldier through is injury.

So I could see that move as a way to generate more speed out of Lowry's line.

Move Nino up with Perfetti and Ehlers and you'd have a different looking 2nd line.

Ya no blame on Vlad. Clearly the injury has limited his ability to take faceoffs, but also to take passes and shoot. Hopefully he heals quickly.

I wonder what moves can and will be made by the trade deadline. As far as speed, we would need to add size and speed to the 2nd line, and on D. With guys like Lambert and Salomonsson on the way, team speed will continue to increase. Would be nice to add another 1-2 players like that before they arrive, and then I think team speed wouldn't be an issue at all, against teams like Colorado.

It's difficult to increase team speed, if guys like Perfetti, Vilardi, Pionk and Stanley play big minutes. It is what it is. The rest of the players play with much more speed relatively speaking.

I’d think Colorado’s size would be more a problem. After all berg and Fleury come in they are a lot faster team, but, much less physical.
Only way to counter that speed is schief stop whiffing on shots. If they net their chances it helps cancel out Colorado’s speed somewhat.

Berg makes top 4 faster. Not sure how else you cancel out the speed factor except finishing on shots.
If ehlers plays on lowry’s line it opens up a spot for a skilled guy like chib or lambert on line.

I agree that the Avs may have too much speed for the Jets (last night in partiocular) which makes me wonder (sorry but here's my anti-Stanley bias coming out) why the Jets' tall foreheads would play Stanley last night. Caveat...I only saw the 3rd period when the Jets all looked a little "slow". Perhaps Stanley had a good first two periods?

He had a great first 2 periods. It was his play that separated the man from puck on our 1st and his pass on the 2nd.

Heinola would have got dominated by the size of Rantanen, MacKinnon who all play physical.
Stan also laid out 2 guys with buff like hits.

It's not just speed the Avs have. Maybe Makar. Their top guys are all too big and fast to handle. MacKinnon is that way against everyone, but even Rantanen and Nichushkin can protect the puck with ease.

I honestly feel like it's more size we need on D to slow down their speed, not more speed from our forwards.

A guy like Manson on our right side is all we need. Just easier said than done. We can scheme to limit the effectiveness of their point shots strategy that works so well against us. But we need a guy or two that can actually go toe to toe with guys in front of the net.

Only way jets win is if Helly is the difference maker as Colorado is faster and bigger.
Also our best players 55 and 81 have to be actual difference makers they couldn’t get anything going last night.
Being equally fresh will help.
