When you’re on win one lose one kind of stretch, it’s not a coaching issue. It’s players being inconsistent. Last game vs Dallas, Mitts and his line produced and we got a win. They were quiet in this game. Nate did his part by getting the game tied. Need that secondary scoring to help win games.

One good game performance is not enough from a 2C. Mitts needs to put together few games in a row where he produces, or we gonna keep losing one and winning one. That’s not on the coach

Agreed, they can't keep having to rely on the top guys, Blackwood, and LOC to carry the load. We need Mitts, Colton, and others to get this figured out and fast.

That said, Bednar running 29, 96, 8, and 7 into the ground isn't going to solve anything either. That's where my struggle continues to be with Bednar (that and no attempt to try different things with the system.

The thing I don't get is people calling for CMac's head. I understand people being upset with the 22-23 season because that wasn't good. But last year CMac went out and got a 2C that looked like it was working great up until Mitts randomly fell off a cliff and he brought end plenty of depth. This year CMac went out and got a major goaltending tandem upgrade in the span of 10 days before Christmas. There's obviously still work to do before the deadline but I do see how CMac is anywhere close to a problem at this point.

CMac has done a fine job considering all the Landy uncertainties, cap issues etc… as far as Bednar playing the top guys too much, that probably has to do with not getting production from Mitts and the 2nd line.

I really think the biggest issues we have right now is not getting a 2C production. Nate and his line has carried this team all year, bottom 6 guys like LOC, Kivi have done their job, but they’re not players you can rely on to give you point production every game, that’s why they’re bottom 6 players.

The issue is Mitts. Not only he’s not producing points, but he’s dragging that 2nd line down. I was really expecting or hoping for continuation performance from Mitts and that 2nd line from the last game, but he was a ghost again and Bednar broke up that line at times during the game.

Nate and his line will win us plenty of games and they have, but he can’t win us every single game. We really need a 2C. I’m not sure how patient CMac is gonna be with Mitts

Sounds like a defeated coach.

“It’s just, you don’t have the legs, whatever the reason is. I don’t know, you’d have to ask them.”

I am not Bednar-out or anything, but this is a pathetic answer to a brilliant, warranted question. I agree, definitely sounds defeated when you tell him to go ask the players.

All I can say to the crowd that wants a new coach, is I REALLY hope that they have a plan in place for a solid replacement because the grass is definitely not always greener….
There is no way we would be getting a better coach than Bednar.

I absolutely agree and I don’t want to get rid of him at all. But I do understand those that think that messages grow stale and he’s been here for a long time.

IMO the only way getting rid of him helps is as an interim boost to light a fire. But again, if you are one that believes in a very short window remaining I could see the appeal in that boost.

Edit: And to Bednars answered question, I again absolutely agree with you. It’s a little unnerving to see such a well spoken and forward thinking individual be at a loss like that. That may be the first time I’ve seen him and thought he was a man without a plan or answer. He’s smart though and will find a way i’m sure.

Q really hasn't had success since leaving Chicago has he? Why are ya'all on team Q?
And Bednar hasn't been able to leave the second round since he had MacK Kadri Nuke and Toews for like $18 millions on the cap.

Well actually he's been able to leave the second round. Just not as the winner.

Coach Q may not have shown he's able to turn any team into a dynasty. But he's looked like a good head coach in multiple situations. Bednar has looked like a good coach for a couple seasons where the deck was stacked in his favour.

What I don’t understand is what makes people think we have a better team than what the record shows which is currently in a wildcard. This isn’t basketball where one or two players can win it all. We are in a wildcard spot because that’s what our roster is currently.

All the injuries and bad goaltending earlier in the season, we still locked in a playoff spot. I think that’s exactly where this team should be right now. We’re not a cup contender at this moment. If we get healthy and get a 2C and couple of better d-men than de Haan and Middleton, then you can expect this team to be better and be considered a cup contender

“Good fellows are a dime a dozen, but an aggressive leader is priceless”. Red Blaik, legendary Army football coach (‘Legendary’ is a vast understatement)

Anyone able to point out a mildly aggressive leader for the Avs at the moment?

I can't speak for everyone, but for me, it's the bloodlust. I just want to see heads roll in a bloodbath of firings. The more people fired, the better.

But again, just me.

Todays game is disappointing, I was expecting better since Wild also have bunch of key injuries, but in a big picture, Avs are what their record shows. Firing Bednar isn’t gonna do anything. The roster needs a shake up.

Well, it would go a long way toward sating the bloodlust and whatnot

Didn't see the game, but that one Wild goal highlight doesn't bode well for Parssinen's future ice time.

Okay now I might be on board the fire Bednar train. Not because of a loss, but because he says he has no idea what to do.

If you watched the interview he basically said that they had a certain gameplan and players just didnt execute it.

Having been a sports coach for over 10 years there no worse feeling than being behind the bench feeling powerless with the events happening. On some games its just watching a slow train wreck happening in front of you. Yeah you could yell the players brains out for not executing the way they supposed but you still cant do things for them.

You can learn from the experience but some games are just gonna be like this. Bednar knows what to do in the long run, but in 1 game context I totally understand what he said not knowing what to do.

Wildcard-Team, simple as that.

Exit in Round 1 incoming....
That or 2nd round. The way they need to push 1st line players they wont have energy to go on long series. The 2022 cup run had 4-0, 4-2, 4-0, 4-2. They were good and got the rest also. This team just isnt able to play every other day and be competitive all day everyday.

Avs need more help on the back end. Middleton, De Haan and Manson have all been dog shit. I think Kylington and Malinski both slot in here soon, but I'd love for the Avs to grab a shutdown 2RD. Manson ain't it. Some nights he's amazing, others he's the worst player on the ice.

They also need to construct a functioning 3rd line. I like LOC there, but aside from that they don't have much.

OK, after a good night of sleep i'm very relaxed now, but

THIS GAME SUCKED ASS!!!

I'm still not over it. Getting outworked and outplayed by an injured riddled Wild squad, who was
better in every aspect for at least 45 minutes, is, and i don't use that word very often, PATHETIC!

Same shit against the Rangers and Oilers, no heart, no nothing. Feels like they don't care.
Asking myself: Why should i?

Don't have an answer for that, but ... THAT GAME SUCKED ASS!!!

Oh, and i want Rants gone. I don't care about his 100 points season(s) stapled to MacKinnons ass, he's not worth the 13+ he might get.

And yeah, still mad ...

So many people have come around on this since last year.

There aren't too many - you have to sign him at all costs - types left.

I mean on a lot of nights, he's not even worth the $9.25M that he's currently on.

I really hope they trade him for something good/decent. The external perception is surprisingly very, very good.
