I would imagine LOC just earned himself more icetime in OT after tonight. Great shift. He is well suited for that if you ask me. He is great at take aways/defensively and he has the speed to transition very quickly to offense and very likely a breakaway. The only drawback is his scoring touch but when he has space he has a pretty good shot.

But here is the thing. When he bitches that we relied on the same 8 guys to do everything. Remember just how much of the cap is tied up in the big 5. We can't afford "good" depth, and never will if Mikko gets 14M per. You want to get this god-damned top-heavy, your top dogs better be able to run. And ours can't... not to the point they used to and hell, the rest of the league is getting better too boot. Our dogs are getting older, so the future outlook is darker. It's the natural end of the window for a once extremely talented and young group of men. Shame they've only capitalized once so far.

What is funny to me, is that Bednar is basically bitching about a bunch of dudes making 1M max, and not calling out MacKinnon, Makar, Rantanen for not putting up at least 2 or 3 goals a game. With their skill, their cap space and the sheer number of minutes they are afforded, they must be better. Period. There is no help coming, their salaries have ensured it.
I love reading your posts but I mean, to the bolded, these players are ranked 1, 2, and T-1 in points at their position in the whole NHL. One of them makes over $10 million dollars. The 2 forwards are NHL top 5 in points and the defenceman is 15th including all players. One will seriously be considered at the end of the year for hart and Lindsay, the other for Norris. They all have insane playoff statistics.

I think I can see the reason for Bednar not publicly calling these 3 out. Sure there’s times we want more but we have to be realistic in our expectations as well.

To me the depth is absolutely what’s killing us at times, but it’s in the defensive side. We are regularly hemmed in our zone way more often than. The last few years and don’t have a team with the defensive acumen to come out unscathed. And the powerplay which is inexcusable at times.
