The Sams at top and Toews, Makar at the bottom. Just like we all predicted. Seriously though, Makar had a really, really rough first period. He was playing oddly soft.

That's what's beautiful about it. The bottom 9 and bottom four D won us that game, and then Mack stepped up to close it in regulation. God that's refreshing.

A truly brutal hockey player.

I'm going to maintain my prediction that Casey Mittelstadt is not playing NHL hockey by the age of 30.

I think he has too much skill, if it's a slower system, and he learned from being here what it really requires to be a 2C on a contender then no.

If he doesn't take himself to another level in the off season. You'll be correct. There is no place for can't keep up, and soft. I don't care how much skill you have.

He's not a 3C, so if he doesn't make it as a 2C. Yeah it will be like NHL quarterbacks. He'll be playing for shit teams or gone.

I wish there was some retention.. I was shocked Mitts was a total cap dump.

If Boston had retained 50%, I think almost everyone would have marked that trade as at least a push, if not a win for the Avs more clearly. Having that extra cap space next season would have been well worth the 2nd and losing the potential of Mitts.

It gives that trade two seasons of added value vs the one, which feels better when you are relatively certain that in the long run Boston gets the better in the deal.

Plenty of bad teams that need a placeholder top 2 line center to burn minutes. That said, I expect him to rebound back into a 50-60 point player again with less expectations and a reset.

If Kerfoot can stick in the NHL so can Mitts.
