Hey, you never know. Nuke can be given an A on his jersey in a few years for showing a good example of overcoming substance abuse issues and by being a core player of our team.

And I'll applaud it if he does. Right now though? He's earned being the laughingstock of the team.

Ya think? We ain't winning the Cup without him. His history makes that pretty obvious. Sucks to have to worry about him making it through the playoffs but no way they win two series without him at full speed.
I don't know if Nuke addiction started years ago or when his knee was messed up during our cup run. He could not even take off his skate or something after games. Either way, 6M a year for Nuke is the best deal in whole NHL.

We eint trading Nuke. Just ask @Sea Eagles

I can celebrate a win and say f*** Val Nichushkin at the same time, and I will not stop saying f*** Val Nichushkin until he proves he can make it through the season.

Sorry, I live in a world where cheating death is a win. Anything less is p***y shit, and for me, we wouldn't have a cup if it wasn't for NUKE and his ability to fight through a absolutely ugly injury.

I think maybe we should be a bit supportive while he struggles with the pain med addiction that comes from it.

Unless you know for a fact he was an addict and rose to being a top six foward, then won a cup all while still being a piece of shit.

I'm sure he went from the third line to one of the most important forwards in a cup win while being a dirt bag cocain addict.

Did you celebrate that victory? If you didn't cool. If you did, shut the f*** up. Just saying.

He's family, like it or not..

We have idea whatsoever that Nuke was/is addicted to pain medication or that addiction came from his injury. This is just a weird sympathetic narrative to bail someone out who bailed on his team.

It is possible to still cheer for a player doing great things for your team, laugh at cocaine jokes and still not trust Nuke.

That's the boat I am in. I wish him all the best, especially in recovery. But I'm not going to invest any time in hating a dude playing good hockey for my team.

Same. I'll cheer when he does well and the avs win and continue to make fun of the ridiculous predicaments he put his team in.

Lol, I'm curious have you been through anything like that?

I've seen people I love, and went through hell with get caught up with heroin because of pain, and go into absolute darkness. All because Army Doctors all of the sudden got scared after prescribing opioids like candy.

Literally seen dudes lose their retirement assets because they chased their addiction outside with street drugs after Doctors cut them cold from pain medication.

I have some understanding, and sympathy. It's absolute hell.

You all make jokes all day, but you don’t know what it's like to pay the price for war. Nuke won the war for this team.

If he did it to himself, that's one thing. But I'm not going to forgive him for ruining two of MacK, Makar and Mikko's prime years. I was willing to do one, but not two. He has to earn that trust back now.

There are a lot of other people managing this organization that bet on him, not only the first time, but the second time.

Maybe remember that.

He was needed to win in the first place. The only person that could have replaced him was Landeskog, and he obviously wasn't ready.

You can say he failed us, or who knows maybe our leaders failed to look out for him.

They knew his issues, why wasn't there more done to watch over the asset?

They kept him out of jail when his OD'd hooker almost died in his hotel room. They look out for him fine. This is a grown man that made his own problems and then made his problems the team's problem. Then after rehab, he f***ing did it again. And I think you can make a good argument they didn't know about his problem the second time, since all the reports talked about how everyone in the room was shell shocked by the announcement. If he f***s us again in the playoffs, are you still going to give him a pass?

Only complaint I have was that total shit OT power play. Otherwise, Avs absolutely deserved those two points. Apart from a meh start, they dominated.

The shot accuracy of this team is not great this season for whatever reason. That should improve as the season wears on.

Assumptions..

I'd never let a 6M asset with a history have any kind of leash.

You are also saying a lot based on rumor.

I'm not giving him a pass.. I'm taking what is in front of me day by day. We need him, and he needs us. Funny how that works, isn't it.

Brother guy, the war your mates went through is not the same as the war that $6M Nuke went through.

This pisses me off too man. That OT PP was a true example of a perfect powerkill. I don't even think they had that great of a look besides the Rants one-timer that glanced off the side of the net. True ineptitude.

We only need Val because of the team's current structure. The only two core untouchables are MacK and Makar. It also doesn't matter how much we need him if he can't pass a piss test in the playoffs. Then it's just a waste of cap space that could be going to a goalie or another area of need.

You can argue that I made an assumption about the team not knowing about his problem the second time around, but it is a fact he had an OD'd hooker in his hotel room in Seattle. There's even police body cam footage. And it's a fact that this was a problem of his own making.

We won because of him, he's flawed. It's actually more normal than you realize.

If you think the people who win in life are perfect you need a hard slap in the face.

I'm not going to say it's 100% the same, but it's similar. You need to sacrifice a lot to win.

Dude come on man. I fail to see any similarities. On one hand, you have veterans who often times grow dependent on pain meds due to their sacrifices while in service to their country all for meager pay and, unfortunately, often times shitty reception when they return home and then you have the $6M Russian playboy with a history of insubordination dating back to his Dallas days going on pain meds on his quest for the cup (which they won) while gaining immeasurable amounts of fame, a parade back in Denver, who then goes up and f***s his teammates over the next 2 campaigns.

I've seen addiction before (lost my closest childhood friend to an OD) and although I'm not the arbiter on how one should feel or treat Nuke in this circumstance, I think it's fair to say that those 2 circumstances are worlds apart.

No one does what they are passionate about for money. Athletes do it to win.

I don't care how much he makes.

Your post deserves a longer response, but I'm tired as f*** dude.

It's more complicated than that.
