Bednar confirmed the ice was shit and players were complaining about it.

He also said Coyle is their best forward to use in defending 5 on 3 or 4 on 3 penalty kills, says he learned from the best in Bergeron and their tape studying him showed that.

One of those small details that likely contributes to why the Avs paid the extra prices to get Coyle on top of Mittelstadt.

I'd bet Bednar and CMac look at that as a pretty huge upgrade going from Mittelstadt to Coyle. Especially for that 3C role.

Chicago played really good, no buts about that. I gotta give them a lot of credit, but man oh man, Wedgewood has looked like a possessed Brodeur these last two games he's played.

For how washed we said about EJ, he looked surprisingly decent. Of course, we got multiple early belly flops to break up odd man rushes that pretty much took him out of the play, but he was doing the same thing in the SCF against the Lightning lol.

Maybe Coyle can teach his new teammates the way of the Bergeron.

This team is starting to show something not seen in very long time. I would even say at no time between the cup winning and the last 2 games have they been this good as a team.

Westwood gotta be the best backup goalie Avs ever had
Necas is absolute monster on skating
Lehkonen just keeps scoring
So nice to see EJ back in the lineup and giving shit to opponents

Cant wait that Dallas game to see how good they actually are against rivals now...

Wedgewood has been lights out so far but I wouldn't go that far. In Varlamov's last season we had Varlamov, Grubauer, and Francouz in net which was probably better at the backup position at the time. And even after Varlamov left and when Francouz was backup he was among the top 10 in the league in most metrics, and later went 6-0 in the playoffs when it mattered most. Wedgewood is doing really well though.

Varly's last season with the Avs, was the season that shall not be named.

And Pickard was the backup to start the season, and basically ended up the starter after Varly was injured.

I thought it was funny watching live that EJ was the first one to get to MacKinnon, both times lol, that wasn't one of the 5 guys already out there.

EJs been here 12 minutes and guys are already deferring to him. I seriously don't believe there was a better off ice pick up available this year, I'm so happy they brought him back.

We need to clone him. Or figure out what makes him utterly clutch and inject that into some other guys.
Lehk is the base model. We got Nuke as the upgrade with sports package. LOC as the economy version. And hopefully Landy can come back and play like a fourth line version of Lehk.

And of course Wood is the free broken ass bike you found on the side of the road that you took home and swear to the wife that you'll fix one day.

Colton gets a pass from criticism today since he had some jump to his step.
