It might feel that way.... But when you look around at some of the other teams Defenses, I actually think our Defense looks pretty deep.

Like look at Dallas, Edmonton, LA... Even Vegas has 3 really good guys but then a pretty stark drop off as well.
Maybe I'm spoiled. I'm definitely spoiled. But having young Byram as a #5 ready to step in and EJ and JJ when they weren't ancient as reliable 6/7 dmen was such a nice feeling.

Having your 6 and 7 be team first physical players and leaders was wonderful.

And yes that team was a wagon and shouldn't be compared to. But I just get bad vibes about relying on Manson.

It's refreshing to not see Makar and Toews playing 26-29 minutes a night. EJ had a couple missteps in the 3rd and should definitely not be in over Malinski in the playoffs but I thought he was alright.

Also they took away the Nelson and Coyle assists.

1.Game was meh until the third but holy is it great to have a great back up goalie and tonight Wedgie was great. Actually his last two starts hes been arguably the best player on the ice. Earned the blank sheet tonight. The shift in the season actually started with acquiring Wedgewood.

2. Nelson was meh tonight. Hopefully, it doesnt continue but he looked slow today and didnt make any real plays with the puck. I would probably put Dru back on PP1. I dont hate that they tried him in the Mikko spot but he didnt look all that comfortable there.

3. Miles Wood can go now. Maybe the biggest mistake CMac made at the deadline was not unloading him to a team like San Jose or Buffalo. This guy is one of the worse hockey players in the league and this league has some bad ones. He seriously does nothing well unless you count taking dumb penalties a skill. Never need to see him play again.

4. Crazy to think that Mack has 1001 points. After his third yr it felt like he was destined to be a 60 point player at best. Now hes arguably the best player on the planet. What a journey.

5. Beat Minny tmmrw and continue this train. 4 point game.

Kivi is gonna be our secret weapon against Dallas this time
Where was his ass post season?

Wedgewood doesn’t have the upside of Blackwood obviously, but he’s decent enough that he could win a few playoff games playing behind this team, if came to that.

Career .906 SV% and when this team is really humming, that’s about all they need.

He’s not Francouz level as a backup, but he’s passable.
Hes better than Frank.

I thought Nelson and Nuke looked very good on the forecheck at times. Really disrupting Chicago's breakout.

For what they paid I expect a lot more from Nelson but I think we're seeing the beginning of a very good duo.

Huh. Interesting info there in the postgame scrum talking to Rachel. The equipment guys cut off a lot of the lower part of his chest protector following his injury because it made him uncomfortable and he’s crediting that with helping his current play. Figured that out during the break according to him.

I don’t want to diminish Lehkonen, but a lot of the time it feels like a 2-man game between MacKinnon and Necas.

Lehky does the dirty work, but MacK and Marty absolutely fly out there man. MacK has to love playing with a guy who legitimately skates stride-for-stride with him and can create space for him. Dude was born to be an Av.

EJs last game was over a month ago against Pittsburgh. The fact that he didn’t look absolutely dreadful out there is amazing in itself.

Not a great night for the 2nd line as we could see with our own eyes. Drouin good defensively, but nothing from Val and Nelly.

Also, according to this, Lindgren-Manson were an absolutely elite shutdown pairing that contributes zero offense. Crazy defensive analytics for them.

Eye test matched on that pairing tonight

Photoshopped.

I have it on good authority that Lindgren is the worst player in the NHL.
