Part of me hates that Bednar does this.

Part of me thinks Nate actually wants it though.
They’ve talked about the toll it takes over a full season, but having their real roster should mean they don’t have to sustain it. On this occasion I support it. A win had to happen. Cavalry is coming. Gotta do what you can not to go too far under .500 before then

I think the positive to me is that even without Gabe, as long as Nuke is sober we could potentially look like:

JD-Nate-Moose
Nuke-Mitts-Lehky
LOC-Colton-Kovalenko
Donkey-Parker/Ivan-Kivi?

That's almost an NHL team.

I am truly, really sorry for your loss and the pain cancer has caused your family. While not every form of cancer is getting the same breakthroughs there are many forms where while they can't cure it, they can almost allow a patient to live with it. It takes decades and cancer is particularly nasty/intelligent/hard to kill.

But...I'm still currently living proof and hope that we will eventually find a cure. I was diagnosed with stage IV colorectal cancer in late 2019 (Dec. 26th, Merry Christmas, eh?). I was given less than a 25% chance to make it to a five years. A decade earlier, I would not have had 18 months. The significance of this Christmas is not lost on me. I will be playing completely on the house's money come December.

Some of the changes it has caused have sucked, but I've adapted. What I can't stress is how important my wife has been in all of this. Her fierceness, drive and unwaivering belief in me has sustained me through the times I couldn't have otherwise handled. Also, the nurses in the chemo ward... I can not say enough about the positivity and level of care they have provided. Goddamned angels, every single one of them.

I'm just sorry as hell that everyone's story isn't as "good?" as mine has been. While I'll never be cured or ever get off chemo, I have extended my life beyond what it would have otherwise been. I might know the name of my killer but as Norm MacDonald said, while I may not be a doctor, "I'm pretty sure that when you die, the cancer dies too. That's not a loss, that's a draw."

Sorry for the long ass and personal post, Kind of ironic...I haven't made a a freaking GDT in years, and actually had no clue it was Hockey fights Cancer night.
Man, that was an inspiring read. I have had my share of health issues, but I have never come close what are describing. Knowing how hard it is to live with a serious health issue, I must say I respect your attitude a lot. Psychologically, it is so goddamn hard. Keep fighting bro and don't be afraid to tell us how you are doing. Respect, man.

Like the win against a top dog in the east.

But it is insane that our top dogs average 25 minutes or more to secure this win....

It will cost us later. They will be burnout by game 60.

Hmm, I don't think so. Nate said earlier in an interview he would wish they could ice more valuable team on the ice because so many players are missing. I think he wants to win and he knows if he needs to play 25 min a game, it's a very shitty team because they must play that much. Only way to win.

Also its not sustainable way to win. It probably becomes boring and tiring(mental and physical )real quick. You have to carry the team on your back every game..

Yeah if everyone comes back including Nuke and Landy then we are going to be contenders. We would have one of the best top 3 lines in the league and teams like Winny and Dallas does not scare us at all come playoff time. Teams like Dallas or Jets will try to avoid playing Avs. Looks like those blockes have learned their lesson.

Doesn't matter if they still have the worst goaltending in the league. Which CMac is too stupid to try and fix.

Yep I agree with you 100 percent. This is Georgies last year of his contract and Avs will need to find their next number one goaler if they want to extend their competition window.

The more I see of Ludvig, the more I believe he’s not an NHL player. He doesn’t do anything especially well, and he's less physical than I thought. Shame that Kylington, Brannstrom and Ludvig haven’t really provided a real option at 7D. I dare say the Avs need to make a move for one at some point this season.

They all suck.

CdH
Ludvig
Kylington

I’d trade them all for 55 year old JJ.

Couldn’t watch. The thread was a fun read for the first 15 pages.

Despite the crippled roster, the Avs are trudging along, getting points whenever they can.
We have several players coming back relatively soon, and they’ve managed to stay within 1 point of a wildcard spot, and 2 points from 3rd in the division.

I posted this during the game a few times. Ludvig makes me want to see more CDH.... Like @RoyIsALegend pointed out though, they all f***ing suck.

He’s an incredible defensive defenseman. Can contain super fast players like MacK or the big strong bullish players equally as well. Stick work and positioning shift to shift is absolutely elite.

Exactly. He's ALWAYS in the right position and his gap control + stick work is flawless. Just pure pleasure to my eyes.

I’ve wanted him to pair with Makar forever.

Me too man, me too.

Every single time we face the Canes I'm left with the feeling "how the Avs couldn't draft this guy, who played in their backyard"..
